I wrote the following email to the hotel upon check out, (14 days ago and no response) We booked a family room, as we had our little boy with us he is 4 and he could not reach the sink, you may like to consider in offering a child’s step when selling it as a family room so they can reach the sink and climb into bath. The shower curtain was not very clean and I didn’t feel comfortable when it was sticking to my skin whilst showering. See attached photo. There was no information given or provided in the room about the Wi-Fi. There was no TV guide on the television. No fridge in the room. One toilet roll for a family of three. No air conditioning We were notified that the swimming pool was closed which was disappointing but at least notified even though it didn’t reflect in the price. Breakfast was Luke warm buffet style so disappointing. The housekeeper knocked the door at 8.30am when we hadn’t checked out. I would like to mention we stayed at The Marriot in the centre of Birmingham on Tuesday night and this was a much better experience. All in all, it was a very disappointed stay.

WOW! What a hidden gem - standing majestically in plain sight in Stourbridge High Street. Even our taxi drivers missed the impressive facade! The Talbot, was built in 1327, and rebuilt in 1640 for ironmaster Thomas Foley whose legacy lives in road nams, pubs and other buildings. The grand hotel is the oldest pub in Stourbridge and the second-oldest building after the Quaker Meeting House. The Talbot has had a troubled past in recent years. At one time, it was semi-derelict insid. But last year, it was bought by Westbourne Hotels, which has swanky retreats all over the country. A £2 million refurbishmentw as carried out. Now the old lady looks like a million dollars. All the original features have all been retained - dark oak beams and floors, feature fireplaces - the lot. So what will guests find in this golden new era/ Well it's cheap as chips for a star. I was quoted £120. I thought it was £120 per night - but no 1320 for BOTH nights. Amazing! We were allocated a ground floor room - without asking - which was great because I have mobility problems and I wouldn't have been able to manage the sweeping staircase. So was everything wonderful? Not quite. Looking at photos of the decor and facilities in other rooms, ours was Spartan. Tiny with comfy single beds, a good TV and an inadequate bathroom with an ill-fitting fitting shower. The toilet set was missing. Obviously Room had been over developed in the revamp. Food: The Talbot offers the usual pub grub - fish and chips, burgers etc - but also has a marvellous little fusion restaurant. Not mentioned on the website, by reception or outside on the A-boards There no signage on the door of the eaterie! But inside is a fabulous restaurant serving fusion dishes - Chinese, Indian, Thai - all freshly cooked. My wife and I had Chinese curry with rice; and chcken noodlesl combination. My wife couldn't resist the New York cheescake. Yum, yum, she decl red. The total bill came to (wait for it) . . . £24.85 My wife and I have small appities and each left half of the food. Enough for 2. So if we had shared one mouth-watering-mains, the bill would have been around £15. There are Fawlty Towers slant on the Talbot. The staff are lovely but scarcely speak English. They do smile a lot. Nice young men. The hotels requires to lave a £50 'deposit' which is returned on checking out. Why.?

I didn’t get the room I booked and paid for. I was travelling with my family, 2 of my sons have autism and I booked a suite with 5bedrooms so they could have a bedroom each and the rest of the family could be together. Also the suite had a lounge where we could sit as a family and my sons could have the routines we have at home. However we were moved to a different suite and I was advised that the room I had selected was being used on a long term rent and I couldn’t have it. This caused awful issues for my children and me to have to stay up all night to monitor them. There wasn’t any managers around to discuss the matter with and the service from the receptionist was awful. Just kept saying it will not be possible. I showed him my booking and explained why I needed the room I had booked and he just didn’t seem to care. The whole situation was just really upsetting. The rooms were clean enough, the showers were dreadful and there wasn’t enough crockery for everyone to have a drink or something to eat. The road noises were so loud at night even if I managed to go to bed I don’t think I would of slept! All night party went on the din of music played for most of the night. The suite we stayed in didn’t have a lounge or table facilities for my children to eat at. I have called the hotel daily since my stay and no manger will speak to me about my complaint or possible refund absolutely terrible customer service! The worst I’ve ever experienced! Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anybody, save your money book somewhere else and probably cheaper for better!!
