Birnam Hotel

The facade of the hotel looks amazing, another thing is the inside… where do I start. The location it’s fairly close to everything within a walk distance, considering that both Dunkeld and Birnam are villages that won’t take you more than 10 minutes to see everything. The interesting part is on the nature around it. The room was decent size, but that was about it. The worst mattress in Scotland you can find it hear, not allowing us to sleep for more than 2 hours straight. That combined to the WC’s water sound that would wake up the sleepiest creature in this world, it made the whole stay very unpleasant. The restaurant has the poorest service I’ve ever experienced, and I swear I’m not one to complaint about anything as long as there is food. But this was outrageous, the person who attended us, did it like we owed her our lives, being rude, would haven been the nicest that she could’ve done. And for the money they charge you, you would expect that the food at least would have been well cooked and not raw.. but hey, there is tastes for everyone. The only good thing about this it was the receptionist Praya, who was always with a smile and a good answer for you.

My wife and I stayed for one night at the Birnam Hotel and definitely would stay again and would recommend to others. The room was clean and cosy and the setting was lovely. The best thing were the staff and management who allowed us to book in late after we got a popped tyre en route. They went above and beyond. 5*

Quirky hotel, but pleasant stay. The Birnam Hotel suited our purposes and we enjoyed spending time there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. The room was comfortable, once all sources of heat were turned off. The ancient lift was interesting! Good places to eat within walking distance.

The stay was absolutely grand up until a large leak in the corridor ceiling outside my room in the middle of the night. This created some hassle understandably. The dripping into buckets through the night made sleep quite difficult. Other than that, its an old building so makes noises naturally but this isnt too much of an issue

Stayed 2 nights - good old fashioned Scottish hospitality - nice room on ground floor - breakfast good - ate in adjoining cosmopolitan looking restaurant - food nice - service faultless - we will be back be rest assured - thank you for a lovely stay - E Wilson

Warm welcome. Clean comfortable room, a bit dated, could do with decorating, however did not detract from a comfortable stay

Have stayed before. Simple 3 star - homley feel, not grand but a great budget saver and lovely 10 minute walk from central Dunkeld and river. Lots of amenities near by.

It was good room, 3 beds, overall very good, breakfast fab. Shower not very powerful maybe because we were on top floor

For a budget trip, this was excellent. We got a really good mid-week deal the week before Christmas. We had a really warm welcome, the room was warm and spacious, the telly and WiFi worked. The room was clean and neat - perhaps the rest of the interior of the hotel could have some repair, but we felt it was a real privilege to stay in such an amazing building. Birnam and Dunkeld have amazing history and the hotel is within walking distance of the Perth Arms, Taybank bar, and Aran bakery.
