We were there for BOOT in Dusseldorf. The hotel was perfectly located and we slept well. EVERYONE we encountered was friendly and accommodating. Loved the breakfast bar with the honeycomb :)

Had booked for 3 nights, well in advance for business meetings. I arrived at 11pm to check-in, to be told that the hotel was overbooked, and I had to go to another Marriott hotel. Whilst discussing this, three more guests arrived to check-in, and all had rooms available. I was given no explanation about reasons for picking me to be moved, and no explanation why they did not inform me in advance. The receptionist was polite, but unable to do anything except pass on the message that I had no room. I was transferred by taxi to another Marriott somewhere in Dusseldorf. Check-in there was delayed by a discussion about which hotel was going to pay my taxi fare. Have stayed in the Hafen hotel before, and it is pretty good - nearby some decent restaurants - but it is going to be difficult to return after this experience.

The lobby area suggests that the hotel is a little old. When we got to the room, we were surprised at how big it was and how good it looked compared to the bathroom and lobby. Everything was clean and quiet. There doesn't seem to be much going on in the area around the hotel. There are no shops and only a few restaurants. However, you can walk along the Rhine into the city center. We arrived in the evening and were able to get a parking space in the surrounding street. The staff at reception and at breakfast were extremely friendly and accommodating. That really stuck in our minds as this doesn't happen very often. The breakfast was also very good and nothing was missing. The only criticism is the lack of USB ports. I didn't have my adapter with me and unfortunately couldn't charge my cell phone in the room. That's complaining at a high level, but these little things are part of life these days. Nevertheless, we would stay here again next time we're in Düsseldorf.
