Six years ago we came here as a couple newly in love just before Christmas and the snow fell around us and everything was magical. The place was always going to have a hard job following that but we found it under new management. The rooms were better but the beds were much too narrow. The food was disappointing. Still retains a bit of its charm and the memories we had will never die.

Excellent, room and ensuite were spotlessly clean, towels, soap, tea making necessities including fresh milk provided. No hidden or extra charges. Continental breakfast served in the bar-restaurant was nicely presented, generous quantities of fresh brewed tea or filter coffee were available. Good value for money, would definitely go back there again. Recommended.

We booked for Sunday lunch with friends and found the ambience in this old pub excellent apart from any references to its wartime history in relation to Duxford Aerodrome. The Sunday lunch, however, left a lot to be desired. The roast meats were fine, Yorkshire puddings slughtly burned. The veg did not seem freshly cooked and roast potatoes hard to even cut. We had to request extra horse radish as the serving was so small. Service was pleasant but rather slow nice young people but inexperienced. The overall experience was disappointing.

Poor from start to finish. Staff were reluctant to take my booking, but the pub was almost empty when we arrived. The lager was nice and cold. The focaccia to go with the oil, olives etc was old and dry, although it had been warmed. My dad had sausages & mash which he said was fine, however the fushfingers in my sandwich were so undercooked, they were stone cold in the middle. We weren’t charged for this (it was inedible, so just as well), but no offers of a replacement something, I was just left with a plate of food I couldn’t eat. Just to finish it off, as we were leaving, the “waiter” dropped a piece of bread from a serving platter, on his way to the table, and just picked it up and put it back on the plate! We won’t be back anytime soon!

We went one evening with family and I have to say the food was disappointing. The gammon steak is nice, but the sausage d mash should come with veg but it was the fish and chips that was the most disappointment. We came here just before Christmas. Fantastic Fish And Chips, where the fish batter was fresh and tasty. This time it was frozen fish like you to go to the supermarket. I’m afraid I probably won’t be here again. What is £14 frozen battered fish supermarket. They also need print off the kids menu and what meals they do at half portions, make it a lot easier for parents. On a positive note, the staff are lovely and very polite.

The room was very cozy, comfortable and clean and I slept very well. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. So the overall experience was excellent and was very good value. I would stay again!

Quick pit stop on our way home from the Rugby, fantastic real ales on tap, roaring fire, friendly staff and good local atmosphere. All round a great little village pub definitely worth the detour………..

We stayed on a Sunday evening - Quiz night at the pub so no evening meals available (we were aware of that before booking so not an issue!). Good selection of beers on offer in the pub. Our rooms were clean and tidy and welcoming. We opted to include breakfast and were presented with a lovely spread of cold meats, cheese, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast & warm pastries. Would stay again if we were visiting this area again
