this place skimps on amenities. no complementary water/snacks in the room, poor quality but pricey products in the mini bar and free red apples no one wants to eat. the furniture is old and rickety and the toilet paper was budget one ply. the place needs a major update. you don't feel pampered - you feel like someone is counting every penny. The one bright spot is the free breakfast which is excellent! It's a shame everything else was second rate.

Wow. Hidden gem. Great atmosphere, service and food. The meatloaf was phenomenal as well as the burger! We highly recommend you putting a reservation into this place because you will not be disappointed! We will absolutely visit again and again.

My husband and I stayed for a 3 day mid-week break at 1770 and had a wonderful stay. We stayed in room #2, which I think is one of the smaller rooms, but it had lovely windows on 2 sides of the room, and beautiful decor which made it very cute indeed. The floors are creaky and you can see the ceiling is on a slant but for us this added to the charm! Felt like we were staying in a piece of East Hampton history! The continental breakfast each day was lovely, with smoked salmon, fresh fruit, muffins, coffee - couldn't ask for more. And Radye the inn keeper was really helpful in telling us how to make the most of our stay and parts of the town to enjoy. We ate in the restaurant on one of the evenings - and it was exquisite. They do a set menu which is good value and the dishes are prepared immaculately. We enjoyed some local wine too! Would definitely recommend this place - great location, lovely building and friendly service.

The 1770 Inn & Restaurant offered us a romantic getaway in the heart of East Hampton, where the respectful, courteous, and friendly staff, especially Michael and Ferquan, treated us exceptionally well. Our room (#3) was not overtly roomy, but served its purpose for the weekend, with our only complaint being there was an electrical issue in our bathroom that was not addressed during our stay and forced us to alter the way were prepared for the day and evening. The complimentary breakfast in the main dining room offered us a convenient and tasty way to start the day, while dinner satisfied our desire for a dining experience in a romantic setting, with soft music, candlelight, a gas fire place, which oddly was not turned, and very good food. Be prepared to pay the East Hampton premium, but in our opinion, the experience justified the cost. FYI, the 1770 House has a tavern in the basement, which we did not advantage, and a well-designed, flower-filled sitting area in the backyard that was closed due to cold weather.

WOW, what a F A B U L O U S dinner dining experience! It started with a warm & cheerful telephone call to make a reservation through and until our wonderful & warm 3 generations of family at the table walked out the door! Let me explain, we arrived and received an engaging and welcoming reception. While settling into the living room by a beautiful fire to cheer us up from the cold we were served the best cocktails allowing us to visit and enjoy probably the best decorated and lit Christmas tree we have ever seen!!! Next the 6 of us were taken to the best table ever in a window nook. Our waiter was incredible! The food by Chef Michael Rozzi was so exceptional that we can’t wait to return. And if you not just foodies like us and enjoy wine, also like us, the wine cellar selections are wide & deep! What an East Hampton gem!! We HIGHLY recommend The 1770 House!

Located in an historical home with street parking available, the 1770 House allowed us to walk back in time. The interior was beautifully done with rich colored wood, a large fireplace, and antique pieces of furniture. Our server had a lovely personality as he engaged with all diners near us. He clearly explained each entree we wanted to order. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Our visit was memorable.

My mom and I stayed here for a week in Nov 2022 (off-season), for the first time. It is a lovely property. We stayed in the 2 bed/2 bath carriage house, which is private and quiet. It is next to the small back parking lot, but we never heard any noise. The carriage house was beautifully decorated and had everything you need (small fridge, full size (!!!) coffee maker, dishes, even a dishwasher!). The people who work at 1770, especially Carol and Randye, could not have been friendlier or more accommodating, especially to my mother who is in her 70s. We loved our stay and hope to be back soon. Highly, highly recommended.

LOVE! Have stayed here several times and it is always a pleasure. On this trip I had to have an emergency medical procedure days before we were supposed to go stay here, I wasn't sure we would make it, but we went ahead and made the trip. It was the perfect decision, I had to rest a lot and it was so easy because everything is right there, the food in the restaurants is fabulous so we didn't mind eating there every night and the staff is all fabulous. Randye and Carol are the best, very helpful and will do anything to make your stay better. We stayed a week and by the time we left I felt so much better because I had been pampered at this glorious place for a week. Can't wait to go again!
