Dear Bastianos team, our vacation at the end of May was a while ago and hardly a day goes by that I don't think back to Bastianos. We (a couple) stayed at Bastianos Bangka for 5 nights at the end of May and we will definitely be back. We were lucky enough to meet Barney (marine biologist) on the flight from Singapore to Manado. Dear Barney, it was a pleasure to meet you and to be able to dive with you. It is incredible what we were able to learn from you about the underwater world, both above and below water. You were the icing on the cake. A diving hotel with marine biologists, it doesn't get any better than that. We had a bungalow right on the beach. The bungalows are very nice. You immediately feel at home. The bathroom is an open-air bathroom and spaciously designed. Since there were "only" four of us in the hotel, every menu came straight from the kitchen and was chosen beforehand by the chef. When we arrived, we were able to say straight away what we didn't like about the food and this was taken into account. The food was phenomenal. We always had a starter, main course and dessert and the food was unbelievably delicious. Everything was always delicious. There was also a lot of variety: fish, beef, shrimp, chicken, asparagus soup, tomato soup and so on. A big compliment to the kitchen. About the staff: All the employees are super accommodating, helpful and just lovely. Mina, thank you for looking after us so well during our stay. We enjoyed the conversations we had together. Jessica, you are always doing well. She is always in a good mood and greets you with a smile for breakfast in the morning. The guys on the boat and the rest of the staff were just great. Everyone really made you feel welcome and everyone helped where they could. About the dive guides: you have incredibly good eyes. Without you you are really lost. We were extremely lucky that shortly after Indonesia opened up there were only four of us in the hotel. The four of us split up between two dive guides. Every dive was super relaxed. From leaving the jetty to the dive itself. That was absolute 5 star diving. All the equipment is brought onto the boat by the staff and set up. You just have to put on the neoprene and do a quick check. Then it's off into the water. The underwater world - breathtaking. Colorful and lots of small things. On the first dive we saw pygmy seahorses. It was unbelievable. Some of the creatures are so small that you need a magnifying glass. The guides really showed their talent on the mug dive. We saw so much (2x small frog fish, seahorses, shrimps and so on). So this is the right place for diving, especially for small and colorful ones. We saw so many nudis. And almost none twice. An absolute highlight, as already written, was the dive
