Overall the space was quirky but fine, it was the room we needed for this trip. However, there were a few issues during our stay that make me give it a 2 star rating. 1) breakfast is no longer provided, that needs to be updated across all platforms 2) nobody is on site to welcome you, so there is no one to explain the quirks. In theory this could be fine but wasn’t. 3) phone number published is out of date 4) no soap or shampoo is provided Regarding the quirks. In summary, we got locked in our room because we couldn’t get the deadbolt unlocked. We tried for about 30 min to jiggle it, twist it, stare at it and inspect it from all angles. It wouldn’t budge. We tried calling the owner but the phone number online and on the map that was provided didn’t work. We tried emailing the owner and let him know this was urgent. We waited 15 min and then called fire and rescue. They arrived within 5 minutes and at first also thought the lock was broken. But in the end it was user error. It is an old Yale deadbolt, common in the UK, but not elsewhere. There is a small switch that locks the lock in place or locks the lock open. It was stuck, but we also didn’t know how it worked. We had tried to move it but not in the right way apparently. Long story short, all of this could have been avoided if someone is on site to orient guests and explain the quirks (or if there was a sign like with the hot water in the shower). And a working phone number would have helped. Apparently the new number is posted in the hallway at the entrance but that didn’t help us when we were locked in our room. The owner did give us a late checkout which was helpful, but overall not sure I’d be back.
