This is not a 5 star hotel! I have to be honest, I have stayed in many 5 star hotels across Asia and to come to Scotland I had hoped for better. I booked this hotel for two nights with my daughter who is in her 20’s.
Check in was swift and the twin room we were allocated was basic and not very big. Our room overlooked the Usher Hall and Castle.
Breakfast the first morning was very disappointing. There is no buffet breakfast, only al a carte. You were to choose a starter eg. Porridge, overnight oats and then a main: full cooked breakfast, pancakes with bacon. However, all the food came together, which meant that if we’d eaten the yogurt first, the main courses would have been cold. I complained to two different servers and neither of them offered so much as an apology.
To use the One Spa, you have to have booked a spa room or pay extra…definitely not worth it. This should be included for all rooms.
Don’t book this hotel, there are many better hotels in Edinburgh for the same if not less money.

A very good five-star hotel, very close to the castle, the rooms are very comfortable, and the restaurants and bars are very good and delicious. The only drawback is that the gym and swimming pool are not open 24 hours a day and close at 9pm.

Lovely hotel in the city centre. Within walking distance to all the main sights. Warm reception staff. Love the spacious pool and well-equipped gym. Will stay again!

It is relatively modern and the space is not very large. If you have an additional electronic product connected to the WiFi, you need to pay an additional fee, which is about six pounds a day.

Lovely hotel in a great location for usher hall . Staff were friendly and helpful , rooms were spacious and had everything you needed . Added bonus spa treatment was excellent.

The room can see the castle. The gym is quite big and has good equipment. It’s also more convenient to get around. It’s not stressful to walk to Princes Street and the Royal Mile.
