We really enjoyed our stay at the traditional and very authentically Scottish Averon Guest House. It is located in the city centre, in a quiet street near the Union Canal, so we could reach most attractions by foot. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast ist fine - not too fancy, but we liked the fresh fruit, muesli and the unlimited tea and toast trays. :) The live music that is on every evening exceeded our expectations - Dave, the host, told us interesting facts and stories about different parts of Edinburgh and Scotland every evening, he showed us videos of attractions, traditions and wildlife and sang and played fetching Scottish folk songs. That was really enlightening and entertaining, and we were always looking forward to these evenings near the fireplace. The room was clean and comfy, not too large, but we felt at home and had everything we needed, including our own toilet and shower, tea set and a fancy chandelier. I can really recommend this accomodation and would book it again anytime.
