I booked us in for dinner (I have left a separate review for the restaurant) bed and breakfast as a treat as it was my wife's 40th. We have both lived in Edinburgh most of our lives and I had never come Prestonfield before but I am so glad we have now. We drove up the most beautiful drive and I parked up and as I was getting the bags from the car a very nice man at the door came across to take them for me. He told me he would drop us at reception and take our bags to our room. At reception we were greeted by Emma who was so nice and we ended up chatting away and continued chatting as we walked up to the room. Emma showed us around the room and it was an amazing room. There was chocolates and Champagne laid out for us which were both lovely and plenty of water. Sometime I think hotels leave one bottle maybe 2 small ones but there was a good amount. Emma was so nice and not to get in to why we were getting away as it was a bit more than just a 40th for my wife, but I found Emma to be very empathetic, and it really put both of us at ease and was really a great way to start. The room was stunning there is a smallish window however with the mirrors next to it we really felt that helped bring in some natural light. They have Sky HD in the rooms and it's like the full package, but I have to be honest we didn't actually use it but it's nice to know it's there. After dinner we went to the Whiskey room for a drink after walking around the beautiful grounds, its hard to believe you are in the middle of a city this is a hidden gem, the have a peacock who was flouting about and highland cows. We had a lovely walk and it was just so peaceful. And we felt a drink in the Whiskey room would just top it off. It was again just so relaxing and such a settled atmosphere it was the perfect end to the evening. We both slept amazingly well the bed is super comfy that was the best nights sleep we have had in years. We went to the restaurant for breakfast and I as always when I am away had the full Scottish and cover it in brown sauce. I did initially ask for brown sauce but I never touched it because I didn't want to ruin the food. Everything was beautifully cooked and I had poached eggs with mine and they were stunning and almost like they had been laid that day. The experience in the restaurant was so nice and relaxing as well we felt very well looked after. When we were leaving Emma was on reception and was genuinely so happy we had a great stay and as we walked down the corridor everyone we passed said goodbye without exception. I was so amazed by the level of service and attention to detail, we were made to fell so welcome and almost as if every member of staff knew who we were by name. It's clear that the standards at Prestonfield are out of this world and we enjoyed every second.
