Fingal - A Luxury Floating Hotel

We had our last night on the Fingal after 2 nights on the royal mile, all staff were very friendly, attentive and made you feel right at home . No pretentious feel at all about the place, which was down to the welcoming staff., accommodation was excellent and highly recommended

Excellent accommodation, excellent dining and superb service. Such an unusual location as a hotel, it was recommended to us by friends who had dined there previously. Being close to Britannia makes it interesting. We were looked after and made to feel welcome and I hope we can come back on a future visit.

Overall a great stay, Free parking close the the ship, the cabins were loverly, staff very attentive, evening dinner was great as was the full Scottish breakfast. We could not find fault, and would love to return. A great location to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia.

We can't rate the Fingal highly enough, 5 stars doesn't do it justice. From the moment you step on board every member of staff helps to give you a unique experience that you will never forget. Your are welcome to explore the whole boat and a member of staff will even accompany you and give you a wonderful explanation of the history of the Fingal. It's the little personal touches and the amazing customer service that just makes it so extra special. The food & cocktails are also deserve a special mention because they too are exceptional. The best ingredients, and prepared with care and attention makes for a wonderful dining and drinking experience.

A big thank you to Frank and all the staff for their hospitality. We were visiting for the day and stopped in for a visit. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Frank took time to show us around the ship and talked us through the history of the ship, talked about the refurbishment and transition into a 5 star boutique hotel. The ship When I mentioned my background in engineering he took us to see the engine room and even brought out some old maintenance records. Thank you and the staff that served us for a great time. We will be back.

You would think that with a beautiful, stunningly renovated vessel such as this it would be the place which wins the plaudits…but in fact stunning and all as she is…the staff steal the show! World-class one and all…from the moment you step onboard nothing is too much trouble!

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of April to celebrate my wife’s 60th Birthday. The whole experience was simply amazing. Fingal is a unique 5* hotel, has beautifully appointed rooms, an amazing restaurant and the staff offer an exceptional friendly, professional and personal service. That’s it basically, but there is so much more to spending time on this beautiful ship. Breakfast is truly a feast, with some tasty alternatives to the traditional cooked breakfast - which was also outstanding. There are not many 4* or 5* hotels who cook black pudding as well as the chefs do on Fingal! Best of ingredients all carefully prepared and excellent staff - it doesn’t get much better. We had dinner on Fingal for our last evening and weren’t disappointed. It’s one of the best kept secrets in Edinburgh!! The 3 course dinner for £55 was outstanding value for money, with so much choice and a wine list of the same quality. Don’t miss out on the Lighthouse Cocktail before dinner if you like a Martini! The location in Leith is convenient for some other fabulous restaurants and bars, you’re a 3 minute walk from the tram stop, which runs into central Edinburgh and all the way out to the airport. You can walk to Britannia in about 10 mins and visit the Leith Distillery if you fancy something different. Anthony on reception was so helpful - not sure how he managed to carry our 3 bags to the cabin, but throughout the stay he and his colleagues shared ideas and suggestions of where to go and what to do. We also want to thank Graham in the restaurant - dinner on the last night was really special - particularly when the musicians played Sunshine on Leith!! We will certainly return - for us the staff make Fingal - they are friendly, professional and really do all they can to make their guests stay perfect. We cannot praise them enough.

Unique Experience !! Our family purchased a voucher for our Christmas. On arrival we parked in the free car park adjacent to Fingal. When we checked in we were greeted warmly with the excellent staff, which continued throughout our stay, the staff were exceptional. Our suite was quirky and fabulous and our supper first class. We have stayed in Edinburgh on many occasions and our stay on board Fingal will stay in our memories until our next visit.

Fabulous visit to this wonderful ship made even more special by the spontaneous tour of the boat by Rui in Customer Service- what a knowledgeable, professional and personable man! A reflection of true customer service who made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar in the evening and the whole experience was very special. Will definitely be returning for an overnight stay in one of the beautifully equipped cabins
