Destiny Scotland Charlotte SQ Apartments

Great location, great apartment, only one minor complaint, there is nowhere to hang clothes if you are there longer than a couple of nights.

Beautiful studio apartment. Very well equipped and modern. Only small issue was the sewer smell coming from the shower drain, which I believe is a common issue when renovating old buildings. I simply put a bowl upside down over it when not using the shower and the problem was solved. Oh, and the mattress needs to be replaced by a real one 😉

This place was absolutely lovely! Great location, beautiful and spacious flat, so well maintained. Wish we had more time to spend here, best place we stayed during our two week holiday!

We stayed in flat 4 of Charlotte Square apartments. The location is seemingly fantastic, apart from the fact the apartment isn't in Charlotte Square, there is no view of Charlotte Square and the flats are above a KFC. The flat stinks of fried chicken ( and so did we, along with all our luggage, shoes and belongings). The cleaning was not complete when we arrived and the cleaner had to be asked to return to vacuum the bedroom carpets. When she did return, the hoover she used wasn't working properly so just moved dirt around. The carpeted areas still had debris and rubbish from the previous customers that I had to remove by hand, with areas of carpet still unclean despite that. The bedding in both beds was stained, ripped and had hairs in it. All the walls in the property are scuffed, marked or dented. When I raised these concerns and asked specific questions, such as who inspects these properties and deems them ok, destiny scotland provide no specific response. They even tried to say they can't take action if customers don't inform them of concerns, which I did through ringing twice and emailing on our first day. We are so disappointed with our stay here. The hiked up price for December, coupled with such poor cleaning standards, really ruined what was a celebration weekend for our family. We have previously stayed at other destiny scotland properties which have been crystal clean and lovely to stay in, but we have totally lost confidence in this company now.

Visited for a long weekend with friends, we had the one bedroom apartment on the first floor they had a studio on the second floor. Both units were clean and very well equipped. The location was superb, the front aspect had a view of the castle situated over Princess Street, in addition the accommodation was well placed for bars, restaurants, public transport links and shopping.

We stayed in apartment 4. A 2 bed apartment on the second floor. The location of this apartment is excellent. However… that’s where the good news ends. The apartment is 2 king size beds (according to Destiny Scotland) they actually look like standard doubles so I’m not sure of this. Not ideal when you’re taking your 18 year old son and 23 year old daughter. Bed configuration cannot be changed but they will provide a camp bed for £15 extra a night. This feels like a rip off when you’ve already spent over £500 for a 2 night stay. If their website had stated it was 2 double beds I’d never have booked it. Feels very misleading. The apartment doesn’t have a few scuffs as other reviews stated it’s covered in marks. Well past due some redecoration! The shower contains black mould. Obviously not being cleaned properly. Light switches were also smeared on our arrival with previous occupants fingerprints. The whole apartment stinks of cooking fat. Assuming this is because it’s above KFC. However it’s not a mild smell and quite overpowering. The mattresses are worn out, providing no support. Worst I have experienced in any hotel.
