The Dukeries Lodge

I stopped here for an overnight stay with a couple of friends. The pub itself was welcoming, nice staff, good food and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately the sleep experience was shocking. My room was above the kitchen where the extractor fan was noisy and billowing steam from it. The room was warm and I was unable to turn the radiator down. Furthermore, I couldn’t open the window because of the steam/ fan noise. Outside the room (outside the building) were lights beaming down above my window. I tried to close the blind but the mechanism didn’t work that turned the slats. As a result I didn’t sleep very much at all.

You get what you pay for I suppose. Its not the Hilton!! 1st impressions were good. Clean entrance, pleasant staff and a warm feel to the place. We booked single en suite rooms @ £53. My room was very very warm with no way to turn down the heating so the window was soon open letting in the noise of the traffic from a busy road. It was a bit tired looking if I'm honest and not the cleanest of rooms, however, the bed, the toilet and the sink was clean and that's all I planned on using. There was a tea and coffee tray with some biscuits but I had to wash the Tea Spoon. It's a budget place with a warm feel. Good pub grub, drinks selection and it's comfortable with a decent breakfast.

Been and stayed before room is basic but ok. Bathrooms that are ensuite are of a weird design but is practical

Nice rooms weird shap for bathrooms I’ve stayed twice and both times corridors very warm but room is cold nice breakfast

My room was small seemed to remind me of a toilet in its previous life but was comfortable but cold even though the hallways was sweating hot.

Comfy bed, breakfast was fantastic just what I needed for the trip, only issue struggled to get shower hot

A very nice hotel and staff, in need of an update in the rooms but comfortable. The meals in the pub a well worth the price paid.

This has to be the worst place we have ever stayed. Unusable smelly toilet and bathroom. Noisy from the road outside and from 5.00am from the owners shouting and banging about. We only stayed because we had pre paid and had travelled a long way to get there as we were visiting the area. Do not stay here!
