A pleasant holiday, resort needs some TLC, and updating in parts. Don't let this put you off. Very basic for Egypt standards. Cleanliness could be better, but the staff are wonderful and helpful. Shout out to Zaheed in the Hub, he was a great guy with a wicked sense of humour. First of all be warned - that the reception staff ask if you want to update at reception when you check-in. The prices vary, we did upgrade and bartered the price, but was told at a later date, there would have been no need to do this as the room would have already have been allocated. We stayed in a bungalow overlooking a man made lake, which was teeming with fish, we used to feed with bread and sausages from breakfast. Our room 550 , had abundant sunshine in the morning, but was shaded in the afternoon .Downside to this lake was the mosquitoes that came along with it. We purchased the OFF mosquito spray, but it did not deter the amount of times we were bitten Best rooms were 601 - 606 they had swim up pools and sunshine all day, and were a little more modern. The room was spacious with two massive beds(one Queen, the other superking), would easily sleep three people. The room was cleaned daily, along with clean towels. Toiletries' are supplied, but you have to ask if you want them replenished. Water is supplied along with tea, coffee and coffee mate, sugar sweeteners and flavoured teas. Kettle etc for making drinks. No soft drinks are left in the fridge these have to be purchased if required. ~Do not clean teeth with tap water- always used bottle water and keep toothbrushes in boiled water to sterilise.. Food is basic, but plentiful, themed nights. (did not have any upset stomachs) You can use the Italian or Oriental restaurant once per stay. (if not busy they will ask if you want to go again - ensure you do not need to pay) Italian is only open Tuesday night (Party night) or lunchtime.. we ate at lunchtime it was very nice. Oriental - Egyptian, is an experience well worth trying - not overly spicy - Party night Sunday - we actually ate here twice in our stay. Drinks are the usual local spirits, beer is ok. Cocktails available but they all taste similar. Dis not have a problem with the ice - no upset stomachs. No heated pools apart from the jacuzzi style paddling pool. this can get a bit greasy, as it was being used by everyone. Entertainment was less than basic, music playing around the pool during the day - and a disco some nights. No activities were done whilst we were there March/April. All day shuttle boats to the near by island, which also had a restaurant which served the all inclusive service. Sun beds and shaded areas with windbreakers were available. Lookout for the tuk tuk's, for 35E£ or we paid 1 $ they will take you to the marinas, or elsewhere You can hire for longer and they will give a tour around El Gouna, we Paid 6$ for about an hour. They are safe and fun, easily take 3 people. Downtown, which is a short walk away. With plenty of shops an
