Hotel Roca Sunzal

El Sunzal|0.62km from city centre
Boca Olas Resort and Blu Restaurant (and other El Tunco places) have the same ownership as Roca Sunzal Resort and the Resort’s airport transfer driver talked these up on the way from SAL. The room’s brochure had a map (photo) in that showed the maybe 75% sealed walking path connecting the three places. Along the path there were good views of El Tunco rock (a pig or its carcass on its backside), popular surf breaks, and other touristy spots. Housekeeping, security and receptions staff did great work and the Resort restaurant looked to be one of the best in El Tunco. Resort wasn’t cheap (~$100 per night for 2 persons with breakfast) but it was a high quality, secure operation. Although crowded on weekends, the pool for guests - overflown regularly by flights of pelicans - was well maintained. Pool water was mostly circulating and was topped up at least once by tank truck. Some pool rules didn’t seem to need translating (sign photo). Secured parking area was full Sunday morning and fully empty Monday morning. Walking on brown beach sand (after traversing rock piles) at higher tides meant crossing lots more rocks, and 3 ocean-front places laid out sand & umbrella stands for patrons. Arrival was just before El Salvador closed up to foreigners due to the virus (poster photo). After the airport closure cleaners and maintenance staff wore masks, restaurant had only takeaway for non-guests, room rate discount was offered for extended stays, and only locals seemed around.

Hotel Los Farallones
4/5101 Reviews
It was few of us so we had 3 rooms. What you see on the internet is not what you get. The hotel should be 5 stars. There’s no hot water, I know is hot weather but you want hot water at the times. The “restaurant “ is literally the worse, didn’t have a lot of things on the menu and every time you order the answer is “I’m sorry we don’t have that” and if you try to order something from the kids menu, they will tell you “NO, That’s only for kids and you are not a kid” haha! For real. Pool was cloudy, floor in the bathroom very slippery. The spa for each room almost empty and water was cloudy as well. The soap dispenser In the rooms did not work. Is very peaceful yes, I just wish they will make you want to stay longer or eat inside instead of going out for every single meal. No fridge or microwave in the room and you have prohibited bring any type of food from outside. Wonder how if they never have anything from the menu!!! Acantilados next door is WAY BETTER !
