Garten Hotel

The staff are the BEST! The food, view accommodations and service were amazing! We will definitely be returning to Garten and would recommend it highly.

We had a lovely stay at Garten Hotel and really enjoyed our time here! We stayed in one of the villas, and four of us slept comfortably. The master bedroom is spacious and had a great outdoor shower attached, which I always love. The villa also included a dining table, kitchen, and a good-sized living room where we had an additional bed. There was also a double bunk room that was pretty simple and straightforward—nothing over the top or particularly special, but it worked well. Outside our villa, we had a small private pool with a seating area, along with a rooftop space. The rooftop itself was nice to have, but keep expectations realistic—it was mostly just chairs and didn’t offer much shade. There are two pools on the property. The pool closest to the villas was under construction during our stay with showers being added, which wasn’t a big deal. Just note that area can get very hot during the day and doesn’t have much airflow. The other pool is the standout: a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean with beach access. It’s a great place to relax and watch surfers throughout the day. Overall, this property is perfect for an adventure traveler. I would not classify it as over-the-top luxury—it’s more of a laid-back hotel with touches of luxury throughout. El Zonte itself is a chill surf town, and this is a great place to simply hang out, surf, or watch surfers. The location is solid with restaurants and beach bars within a short walk. As long as you come in expecting relaxed surf-town vibes rather than a polished luxury resort experience, this is a really enjoyable place to stay.

We stayed at the villas & loved them so much! They were beautiful & accommodated us perfectly. The breakfast every morning was phenomenal. Our waiter for most of the week was Kevin & Elnelson. They were wonderful!! I would definitely come back & stay here again.

Just back from 4 days at the Garten in El Zonte. We stayed in 1 of the 4 suites the first night and moved to the Penthouse the next 3 nights. Our friends stayed in 1 of the 4 Villas over the same period, so we got to see all of the available rooms. Overall, we left with a very positive impression. The hotel is modern with spacious rooms and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food at PROA is excellent and not as expensive as you would expect for a boutique hotel. As mentioned in some of the reviews, the ONLY room with a view of the ocean is the penthouse, which has a spectacular view. The Villas are separated from the main hotel by a 200 yard walk along the entry road into El Zonte. The gym is located near the Villas. So if you are at the main hotel, you are walking to the gym, and from the Villas, you are walking to the restaurant and pool. The gym is well equipped with dumbells up to 60# , 1 adjustable bench, a benchpress, 2 squat racks and a treadmill & stair master. The free-weight area has an A/C split, but is also open to the outside. The cardio area is enclosed, and does have an A/C split, but we could not locate the remote to turn it on. An earlier review warned that the gym was often crowded because the hotel sells a day-pass, but I worked-out 3 days & never saw anybody else using it. If you stay in a Villa, your are provided with 5 gal of bottled water, but the suites and Penthouse have no drinking water other than a few small bottles. A recent review mentioned that the pillows were too firm...spot on... it was like sleeping on a stack of blue jeans. I asked the staff if they had any softer pillows and they said no. The outdoor area of the penthouse looks really cool, but other than the hammock really isn't very functional. The screen that would conceal a bather from the pool patrons is translucent and takes some serious strength to raise and lower. Lastly, because the penthouse is glass on 2 sides, it is fairly noisy. Even with the windows closed, you can hear much of what goes on poolside, and the soothing crashing of the waves on the beach seems to be amplified all night long. Beautiful hotel with a great staff! We had a great three night stay at Garten Hotel. The staff was very friendly and always available to help with anything we needed. The rooms were clean and the suite we stayed in was very spacious, the open-air dining area was beautiful and clean, and the pool area was very nice, though the seating can sometimes be limited. One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel does not offer towels to use at the beach, so would reccomend buying one or bringing something to sit on if you plan to spend time on the beach. Location was decent and we were able to get Ubers/drivers when it was needed.

Loved this place! Everyone from the servers, check in girl and the security were so nice. I arrived really early and was able to use the pool until my room was ready. The rooms were really clean and relaxing. I wish I had of spent another night!! I was going to skip the restaurant and go eat elsewhere but tried it, and had an amazing Greek salad. The included breakfast was great too. Highly recommended this place!!

Just wanted to getaway and relax. I found the perfect place. This small boutique hotel is really nice. The staff is very friendly, the room was very spacious and smelled fresh and clean. Very nice and quiet, but there's always something to do in the area. It's no cheap, but it's very nice, spectacular ocean view and sunsets. Perfect location.

The staff, accommodations, food and service were outstanding. I highly recommend Garten for couples and families. It feels more like a four than three star hotel. I got more than my money’s worth.
