Villa Poseidon Residence

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at this charming villa with spectacular views. The hosts are so gracious , friendly, and accommodating. The food was the best in Greece!

I stayed in a suite that looked very good from the outside; also the view over the see was nice. Unfortunately the good things stop here. Once inside we noticed the old(and smelly) and broken furniture, rusted appliances, ripped bed sheets, no soap, dirty towels and of course…NO INTERNET inside the room(only at the pool area). ANTS everywhere – in the kitchen area you cannot leave something on the table for 5 minutes, but also in the bed…I woke up one night and there were ants on me and on my son – the following nights we slept soaked in Autan….great fun for only 170E/night. Breakfast was very basic also, all 10 days almost the same. Also, don’t trust the sweet talking fake host with his overpriced barbeque and cruise initiatives.

Disappointed... For sure not good value for money. The view and the courtyard are nice, but so many things are wrong. The kitchenette is a joke. No oven, no gas cooker, no microwave. We had only one glass of water on an apartment of 4 people. No soap, no wifi in the house, the bed sheets were ripped. The couches were improvized, they had no mattreses, but some sponge instead. Be prepared with cleaning products - 8 days and they only came once to clean and another time to throw the garbage. By the way, they used our shopping bags to put them in the bins. Actually, they entered the house many days in our absence to change the temperature in the fridge to consume less power - this is ridiculous. Ants everywere - on the table, in the beds, ... over-expensive prices at the bar - 5,5 euro for a draft beer Mythos, we tried a different tavern every day on the island and we did not encountered these prices. I think if you eat and drink at their place and you don't care about money you are their friends. Otherwise they make you pay somehow. They charged us 245 euro for a mosquito net that had broken during our stay.

Villa Poseidon is not a place for action, it is like a stay at your Mamas house. You have all the comfort you need, you are cared for, you are fed with perfect Greek food (a la Mama) and you don't have to worry about anything. Yes, there are some minor things, that are not perfect, like the bathroom situation (shower curtain too short so everything gets flooded, no space to place your toilet stuff, some pipe sticking out of the floor (prep. for heating?) and air-condition just on request for extra charge (which we didn't really need, because the stone houses keep perfectly good climate), but all in all you feel at home, you feel welcome and that's what matters most. In detail: the rooms (we had the small house in the back) could be improved a bit in respects of furniture f.e. our kitchen was packed with 2 couch-beds w.o. any decoration), kitchen is not fully equiped, but we anyhow we just ate downstairs at Sotirias. There is no coffee machine, but a water kettle, so you can get along with instant coffee. There is only a tiny cupboard in the bedroom. We stayed for two weeks and for that the storing options were too little. We used a bench and small sideboard in addition to the small cupboard, but it was a bit messy. It would be sufficient for shorter stays though. The bathroom was very little, but we managed it by using also the windowsill to store our stuff The house is super cute and there is a little terrace which is unobservable and cozy. Some flies and wasps but not too much. Shaded by a wonderful olive tree. W-lan is a bit of an issue inside the house due to the thick stone walls. Best signal is on the terrace or down at the pools area. The best stuff is the food. It is not only comfy to have dinner at your place, but it is usually better than what you can get outside (although outsides food is already delicious), because it is cooked with love. Sotiria and Sakilaris are two wonderful hosts, and they really make you feel at home. They always ask you about your plans (give good advises) and if you want to be back for dinner. They are really one of a kind and I miss them already.

Beautiful villa on the hillside of Zakynthos, with a fantastic view, a pool, super Greek home cooking, nice hosts. Th e villa is operated by the owners. Traditional style lime-stone villas, charming and romantic. The villas equiped with everything you need, clean and comfortable. But if you look for luxury, you've better choosing another place. It was one of our top three vacations and that was mainly because of our hosts. You can stay in one of the most beautiful parts of a beautiful, green Greek island, where your every wish is taken care of, you can get breakfast, or, in case you would like to enjoy marveollous home-made dinners, you can. The hostess of the house as a private chef provides you with everything, even more, we will miss her lovely food, which was not only delicious, but also affordable. Both the owners will do everything for you to spend a remarkable time with them. You can bathe in the pool or take a trip around the island with your rented car, go for a boat trip and so on. If you would like to spend an active holiday on Zakynthos, Villa Poseidon can be your very best starting point and the owners the best hosts. We will definitely return. :)

Due to rental car breakdown we were standing along the road in the heat with small children exposed to the sun. We came bye to ask for some help with calling for assistance in the very bad situation. It all ended up with a fantastic lunch together with the family and two hours stay at this beautiful silent place. We were given lots of helpful tips for the planned roundtrip with our rental car. Looking forward to come back for a really relaxing stay.
