Elephant Butte Inn

Booked a one night stay here with family, supposed to have pool, breakfast, eating place but as we checked in asked about them to be told no pool, no breakfast. No deli apparently its 'all on our website' - well no it wasn't. Cost me 100 dollars for the night. The room curtain looked like it was going to fl down. Holes in it and door window never been cleaned in its life, toilet was filthy with stuff falling out of vent in ceiling. NEVER AGAIN. TERRIBLE. my 11 year old says Absolutely Terrible. This was worst night of our holidays in New Mexico.

I enjoyed my stay here. My room on the lakeside had a great view of Elephant Butte Lake with a wonderful sunrise one morning. And I could walk down to the lake. The couple on property were helpful. A limitation was not having a restaurant in the offseason.

I absolutely love this little hotel. FIRST...the Manager and his wife are THE BEST! If you looked up customer service, their names would be shown as the definition. THEY are the main reason I would return. The rooms were clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable. The window coverings were blackout curtains which were needed during the 108 degree temperatures we experienced while there for the hot air balloon event. The a/c unit performed well. The microwave, mini frig and coffee maker all worked just fine. The Cons are NOT their fault nor that of the hotel..... When we arrived the restaurant and spa were STILL closed as was the swimming pool. This is due to the inability to FIND people to work for them. They, like many other hotels and restaurants have had great difficulty finding help. Elephant Butte is a very SMALL and sp****ly populated area which receives most of its business via tourism taking place in the summer months. In fact, we could not find any restaurants open (there was a taco stand) in Elephant Butte. We even went to the nearest town (about 15 minutes away) and they only had two restaurants open. There is a dollar store practically across the street from this hotel. We went there and picked up some snacks and frozen food and put it in the microwave. I gave this five stars even though the above mentioned amenities were not available because they told us at the time we made the reservation these amenities would not be available.
