Hampton Inn Chicago Elgin/I-90

Check in was fine and the room was clean, though kind of small. The breakfast was below average in both content and quality. The hotel was a bit run-down and did not have a pleasant odor in the hallways and rooms. The kicker for us was that we reservered this hotel specifically becuase they had a hot tub and we were going to be arriving after 10 hours on the road. Really looked forward to soaking in the hot tub, but it was closed for maintenance. We asked and found out that this maintenance was scheduled and not an emergency. You might think that is kind of petty in a review, but we would have actually made reservations at a different hotel had they sent us any kind of communication about this maintenance. They apologized and offered to discount the room, but we were told they could not offer a discount because we had made the reservation on *******. However, we did not pay ******* for the reservation. We payed the hotel directly when we arrived, so I am suspicious that this was just an excuse. Not happy with this specific Hampton Inn

Good so far ..going to bed now..great price..only wish there were lights on each side of the bed for reading..price excellent.. convenient off highway..close to at least one restaurant..assume we will get usual breakfast before we hit the road..

Very outdated and in need of repair and cleaning throughout. Our room was tiny in comparison to any other Hampton or Hilton we’ve ever stayed in. The check in staff were kind and the check out person said she would have maintenance look at the room??? It doesn’t need repair, it needs a renovation!

This was such a good sleep-- quiet room, nice pillows and bed, and a great location just off the interstate after exiting Chicago traffic (from the south). Room was large with all new looking furniture. It's not real close to any places to eat, but the town is a short drive away and has a lot of interesting choices, such as a Fresh Mart with some really cool groceries. Super clean too. I'm bookmarking this place to stay again, it is just that handy.

The hotel was awful. Now keep in mind, I worked at this hotel and opened it 29 years ago. And I was appalled by the conditions it’s in. The front door was open all the time and never locked. The parking lot was in poor condition. The pool was closed. There was scarred walls all over the place. Mix matched hallway lighting. Items in the room did not work. And oh they have a nice 55 inch TV, but no remote. I took my daughter into the room where George and Barbara Bush stayed in back in 1997, and there is no way I would want anyone staying here. Oh on top of all of this, the internet did not work. Hilton would be smart to let this hotel out of its last year of its license, and have a owner build a new one in the market. I would not recommend anyone staying here.

Just returned from a 2 night stay. The front desk receptionist was polite and helpful. We had rented 2 rooms. The 1st room was OK. The 2nd room had hair on the sheets as well as had stains on them. The mattress, although looked new, were very cheap and had no firmness to them. The bathroom was not cleaned and had hairs in the sink. We were able to get the room changed. It was better and clean but I would think before staying there again. They offered free breakfast which we did eat one morning. We were the first ones down and looked fresh. It was the basic eggs, bacon, waffle maker, bagels, etc.

I am a Hilton Honors Gold member and I have never been treated so shabbily in a Hilton Property. The swimming pool was closed and the Business Center was not available and "had not been available for two months," according to the woman who checked us in. I told them about the Hampton Inn Guarantee that was displayed on the counter. Bobbi, the assistant Manager, even argued with my husband about the pool closure, saying that we should have seen on the Hilton webpage that it was closed. She was quite rude and unfriendly. My husband pulled up the page on the webpage and showed Ms. Bobbi that it said nothing about the closure. I asked several times to speak to the manager, the alleged Angel Siscal, and was told that a message would be left for him to call me. We asked several people at the front desk to have him call us, but of course, he never did. I called today and talked to Anna and again requested to talk to Mr. Siscal. She said "he only comes in once in awhile." I asked for his phone number and she said that she "was not allowed to give out his personal information. This property should be be removed from the Hilton family. It needed repairs to the hotel as well. I did meeting planning for 30 years and used many many Hiltons, almost always with very good results. This Hampton Inn is disgraceful. DO NOT STAY THERE!

So I had the displeasure of staying here for 9 nights on a business trip. Upon check-in you’ll be greeted by either the indifferent staff or the rude staff (one or the other). Then you’ll receive your room keys where you’ll find your musty moldy smelling room with hair on the walls, shampoo on the ceilings and dirty bathroom floors with carpets that look like they haven’t been vacuumed since 1982. The hotel states they clean your room upon request however I requested 3 room cleanings on my 9 day visit and only once did they clean it. The first time it was cleaned well minus the mystery stains on my fresh linens. The second time i walked in and the room wasn’t cleaned so I had to call down and ask for at least some towels. However…. I had to call housekeeping 3 times and the front desk about 5 times with a total of probably 12 minutes just trying to get them to answer the phone which was shocking considering I had walked past the desk on my way up and the lady working the desk was just sitting on her phone. Didn’t even acknowledge that someone had walked in the door. So eventually I was brought towels and she asked if i would like to reschedule a cleaning for the next day which I responded yes and gave a time presence. Low and behold the next day it wasn’t cleaned once again. So at this point I just gave up.. Now let’s get into the complimentary breakfast. If you’re into food with a lower grade quality then 10 year old hospital food then boy oh boy is this the meal you won’t want to miss!!! You have an array of juices that have a scrumptious synthetic twang to them that cause an almost immediate acid reflux. You can make your own belgian waffles however if you want maple syrup they’ll “have it tomorrow” (it will never come so just forget about it”. They do also have a choice for eggs and meat protein however the eggs are more fake tasting than your local mcdonald’s and the meat is so repulsive you’ll have to spit it back out. It almost has the texture as if it’s been coated in a plastic film or something. Now for the pros! If you like Neutrogena products then you’re in luck! They offer complimentary products in the bathroom however keep in mind you might not get them replenished because housekeeping doesn’t come often :). The entertainment options are direct tv cable which was good, I didn’t use the pool but it also seemed like nobody used the pool so you might just have that all to yourself should you decide you wanna go for a swim! There were quite a few hangars in the closet if you like to keep your clothes well kept whilst traveling. Back to the cons and this is where I wrap it up. I know this is what you all were waiting for. Is it at least a comfortable nights rest? Well it depends.. If you like extremely firm mattresses and lightly stuffed feather pillows that deflate into nothing after 20 seconds of laying down then this might be your dream accommodation.
