The staff are friendly and breakfast was nice. The location is close to town but bear in mind that it is uphill so not ideal for those with mobility issues. We booked an Apartment King room with balcony and I did not like the room we had as it was at the back / side of the hotel , I think facing the front would have been nicer. What disturbed me about the this back apartment was the main bedroom window looks out onto a small garden area and the heavy curtains don't fully cover the area of the window which means that at night when you have the light on those walking the corridor can see into your room. Thee are sheer curtains but you can still see in. Also this room has only a shower and no bath. I would stay in the hotel again but not that room. The parking in front of the hotel reception was full so we parked on the street which was fine. There is paid parking in the hotel garage for those looking for added security.

Food and rooms were good - that's probably why there were so many guests. I once heard in passing at the reception: ”Fully booked”. The room furnishings were not entirely satisfactory - especially in the bathroom there is a need for action. The shower cubicle could only be closed with a trick - all the elements pressed against each other so that the driver groove at least snapped in the middle.... The large mirror with the integrated cosmetic mirror has only one flaw: It is mounted too high, so that the ”small ”I couldn't even use it (1.70 m tall). Good idea, not well implemented. Perhaps the manufacturer assumes that the mirrors are placed on the floor???

Hotel: Restaurationsstau! Küche: Kleine Karte, gutes Essen. 2 Mal die Woche (Montags und Donnerstag) muss man allerdings auswärts essen gehen, dann ist die Küche geschlossen. Das Hotel ist nicht romantisch, sondern dringend restaurationsbedürftig! Aber Bilder sagen mehr als 1000 Worte...! Sehr freundliche und bemühte Mitarbeiter, welche bestehende Mängel bestmöglich zu kompensieren versuchen. Quasi die guten Geister des Hotels. Sie waren Immer aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und bemüht. Was machbar ist wird (gerne!) gemacht! Allerdings... die Rahmenbedingungen! WLAN, ja, gibt es. Ist aber katastrophal, bricht immer wieder zusammen, schlicht nicht zu gebrauchen! Wo ist der Router? 100 m entfernt, im namensgebenden Stollen? Das WLAN von der nahe gelegenen Tankstelle, ist besser zu empfangen...! Der Hoteleingang ist nur über eine Treppe zu erreichen, der Holzhandlauf zerbröselt so langsam (splittergefahr), der Boden vor der Treppe und der Treppenwechsel, sind mit Puzzel-Sportbodenschoner ausgelegt. Keine Zimmer im Erdgeschoss, Für Leute die nicht gut zu Fuss sind - oder gar gehbehindert - absolut ungeeignet! Die ”Terrasse” - ein Holzkonstrukt - liegt auf der anderen Seite der Straße unter Bäumen gelegen, das Rauschen eines Gewässers ist zu hören... wenn nicht gerade ein Fahrzeug zwischen Hotel und Terrasse, vorbei fährt. Das Hotel ist schön gelegen am Rande eines Mittelgebirges (Schwarzwald). Gute Ausflugsmöglichkeiten mit Nähe zu Frankreich und Schweiz. In meinem Zimmer ist vor 30 jahren die Zeit stehen geblieben; mit anderen Worten: ein gehöriger investitionsstau ist die Folge! Wild zusammengewürfelter möbelstyle (Möbel die man nicht wegschmeißen konnte oder wollte) , eine nicht richtig schließende Zimmertûr, keine Jaloursien, keine Llimaanlage, alte z. T. sehr kleine Bäder mit Fliesen aus den 1970ern mit Löchern (Dübel), alten Armaturen, knarrende (Holzdielen)Fussböden mit Laminat belegt, keine(!) Deckenleuchte, zu wenig und dann auch noch versteckte Steckdosen, und viiiel zu weiche Matratzen (incl. der Auflagen), in denen man versinkt. Aus orthopädischer sicht, absolut Wirbelsäulen schädlich... und die Kopfkissen viel zu voluminös! In meinem Zimmer ist, konträr wie beworben und im Flyer angeführt, keine(!) Zimmerbar. Habe mich darauf verlassen... und bin enttäuscht worden. Vereinzelt Spinnweben, aber Zimmer und Bad waren aber immer sauber. Freizeitgestaltung im Haus? Lesen, Fernseher mit Radioprogrammen... das war es!

Wow! I came here to lodge my disappointment but am astonished to see the same behaviour has been meted out to people since 2019 and nothing has changed. Well, the waiters were quite decent but the lady at the counter probably had the same reason for not to smile or behave professionally to customers. I won't go into details here but will only hope they improve their customer interaction in this day when heritage establishments are struggling hard to maintain their clientele and ”good” image. I have noted someone from the establishment kindly reads the reviews here. So, they can contact me for exact date/time in case it is not clear who this person is. I only hope their reputation is not spoiled due to this while their product (the cake, Black Forest cake) was the best we had had during our trip. Best wishes.
