Guest House Yanagiya

This guesthouse is located in a 100-year-old merchant's house, almost in the center of Iwamuracho Hondori, a designated Important Cultural Property. The guest rooms are 8-tatami private rooms and dormitories with bunk beds for men and women. Shared facilities include a washroom, a fully equipped dining kitchen, a lounge, and a bathhouse with two shower rooms separate from the main house. It has been restored to be clean and easy to use while still retaining the appearance of an old folk house, and seems to be popular with foreigners, as a German couple was staying there on the day we stayed. The woman who manages the place was very kind, which made it even more comfortable. The guesthouse is located on Iwamuracho Hondori, a designated Important Cultural Property, and it is fun to stroll around while looking at the old townscape. There are restaurants, izakayas, and convenience stores within walking distance, so you don't have to worry about where to eat. Iwamura Castle, one of the three greatest mountain castles in Japan, is about 40 minutes away on foot one way. We recommend visiting this place as part of a walk around the town, which is a Important Cultural Property.
