Old facilities, poor service attitude

Good hotel for a nice trip, also for a family

Not clean.

I chose this hotel as it was just over an hour from Calais port so a good stopover on my journey from the UK to Italy. Despite being pretty close to the main road and built-up-areas, the hotel is in a patch of green space that makes for a pleasant environment. It's an older building (maybe 1960s?) but although the exterior is a bit dated and in some places not very smart, the interior and the rooms are modern and in excellent condition. My room was rather cold and the AC could not be adjusted above 19C, so it was pretty chilly (so I switched it off). Other than that, a good and comfortable room with a walk-in shower and all to a good standard. I skipped the breakfast as it was a significant additional cost, so I can't comment on that aspect. I emerged bright and early to continue my journey and was immediately snarled up for an hour in the Lille morning rush hour, so do bear that in mind if you plan to depart on a weekday morning and head east.

The hotel is located just outside Lille and is easy to reach. We received a very friendly welcome and were given a clean and tidy room. The evening dinner was good, the breakfast almost as good. The service at both dinner and breakfast was quick and very friendly. However, the exterior of the hotel needs some attention, a painter would have a job. The hotel garden, on the other hand, was beautifully laid out.

Very convenient for a one night stop whilst travelling further afield. Just off the motorway and very close to the Auchan Hypermarket. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful. It does have an outdoor swimming pool, but it was raining the night we were there.

The hotel is a 10 minute drive to Lille centre with plentiful secure parking. Check in was quick and friendly with a tidy well equipped room. Breakfast was a basic buffet. Wi-fi was included but not working on second day. Outside was a small pool and pleasant sitting area.

This was a great start to a euro road-trip. A great clean and well equipped room. The bar was welcoming and the evening food was lovely. In the morning there was a good touch, the manager came around the breakfast area introducing himself to everyone. Would highly recommend to anyone. A great stay.

It is our first visit in this hotel post pandemic and I am pleased to say that prices did not rise and it is still great value! Clean, practical, quiet and safe. We like to stay here on Fri night post Eurotunnel crossing before heading further into continent on Saturday. We will be back!

The hotel is located on an industrial area, with ample free parking spaces, tall perimeter fence with automatic barriers, that are left opened. Due to the confidence in the general site security, bags are left in the car during stopovers. Several shopping facilities are located within short driving distance. Receptionist or front desk staff members are friendly and welcoming. They even offered free water & croissant during a 05:00 checkout. This hotel has now become our first and or last stop during EU road trips.

I have stayed at this Holiday Inn a couple of times recently when travelling back from Germany to the Uk. The hotel is about 1 hr drive from Calais / Eurotunnel and just off the highways so easy to find although my sat nav took me via the neighbouring retail park. Outside the building reminded me of an old Butlins holiday camp! There’s a large car park for guests with no parking fee. The public areas are refurbished and the rooms are the same as most updated HI and very clean. The corridor walls are lined with fake brick and were reminiscent of Prisoner Cell Block H! See photo. The restaurant menu (Menu d’été) is quite limited with only 4 starters and 4 mains available (plus desserts). The mains are Burger, Fish and Chips, Beef Kebab (brochette) or Steak tartare. With prices between €16 - 19. The kebab was just 1 skewer with 4 cubes of meat but tasty. The Fish and Chips was disappointing - it was most likely frozen battered fish fillet that was over cooked so the fish was rubbery and most of the batter was empty. Both meals felt over priced. The French are famed for their cuisine but this was way below expectations. Breakfast is priced at €17 - but I didn’t take it as I would rather pay €2 at the boulangerie next door for a croissant and a coffee! Staff at all times were friendly.

I have stayed here no less than 6 times, either booked by myself or partner. All the rooms I have stayed in up to this point was to Holiday Inn standard. I can honestly say this time was the worst stay ever as evidenced by the photographs (Room 137). I’m not sure why I was given such an appalling room although I have a theory. I was given about three different excuses as to why I couldn’t have another room. I was not offered a payable upgrade, but was told the other rooms are refurbed, whatever that meant. I was also told they were fully booked but upon checking ******* and other platforms rooms were still showing as available. The room stunk of stale smoke and I asked for non smoking, there were no flannels (face towels), no toiletries if you get stuck and have to stay here just the bare minimum soap. This is room is no better than a budget hotel that cost a fraction of the price. Worst of all I was not given an apology. So ensure you don’t stay on the ground floor. The only reason I did not leave straight away was because I had driven all that way and was exhausted. That’s all
