Where to start 🤦🏼♀️ the first impressions faded VERY quickly. There is a good sized free carpark with ample room to park, but if you just take moment and look around you, you’ll notice how rough the hotel looks from the outside. In approach to the entrance all seems dirty and tatty with some very badly potted up flower containers. Note the purple and yellow violas in the pics.(keep this in mind) we were greeted by a lady on reception who wasn’t exactly full of the joys of spring…. I appreciate its work but a bit of cheer wouldn’t have gone a miss.on check in I asked about dinner in the hotel and was advised that they preferred we’d book, so that was fine and we made reservations (expecting the place to be packed). At check in we weren’t told where breakfast was in the morning and full and payment was taken at that moment of checking in. So off we went to room 201 first floor. On approach to the door we could see the paint was all chipped off ( I now know why) Entering the room and closing the door as we thought we had, all looked lovely. until you start to notice things. Blood on the net curtain and wall under the plug, makeup on the nets, window handle broken off. Reading lamp not working, no soap in soap dispenser at sink, bed sheets that don’t fit the beds, NO hot water at sink ever always running cold (we tried running it to see if it would come but no) radiator turned off in room so it was freezing upon entry then last but not least, after more than an hour in the room we discovered that the door was actually open! THE LOCK IN ROOM 201 IS FAULTY and doesn’t catch unless twiddled with. UNSAFE in my opinion. So moving on, off to dinner reservation that we booked expecting a busy restaurant….. walking towards the the reception desk we could see a male member of staff checking a group in. We walked into the empty restaurant (3people only) and waited to be seated and waited and waited. No staff to be seen ANYWHERE. Eventually the reception guy appears and apologises for our wait as he was busy checking others in. We get seated and order the Fish and chips, I asked to swap the house chips to salt and chilli which he wasn’t sure could be done but said he’d ask. A short time later the food arrived and to be fair I couldn’t really fault it (massive portions) also they have a great harp pint 😉. My only gripe with the food was the desert…. Terrible! The brownie was burnt as in burnt hard at the edge and guess what it was decorated with …… you guessed it 😆 a viola 🤦🏼♀️identical to the ones at the entrance were cigarette butts were put out in. I’m not saying they are one and the same but you have to wonder🤔 so over all dinner service was very faulty towers tho the fella that was doing all was lovely 💁🏼♀️ I actually felt sorry for him. So back to our room we went for the night, a comfortable nights sleep was had tho the walls are paper thin and we could hear the entire conversation of next door. Tho after they’d went to sleep a quiet comfortable nigh
