I chose this hotel because it was close to the university where my daughter was studying abroad. It's cheap so the cost performance is good. The room is spacious, everything else is average. There is no convenience store nearby, so it is inconvenient for small purchases.

Great hotel for the price. Quality similar to super 8 or comfort inns I’ve stayed at. Clean rooms , friendly efficient front desk staff. Hotel is in downtown Erie which is a city therefore has nearby restaurants, bars, theatre but also a few people under the influence in the surrounding area(not in the hotel). If you are generally comfortable staying in any major city, you will be comfortable staying here. Would definitely stay again.

This place is really cool! Totally retro and I had a great stay. Was outdated but not a problem for me! Service was great as well. No on property dining at the moment sadly. But I would recommend this for anyone looking to stay in town.

Hotel closed and never notified me. Couldn’t get through to call and find out why I wasn’t notified. Luckily I wasn’t charged. Yet. Not a great way to notify travelers coming in from out of town. Had to scramble to find another place to stay last minute.

This hotel is willing to long-term house "scab" workers, brought in from other states, to cross picket lines at a union shop. The Avalon is also overpriced considering the amenities that are offered-you will get a lot more "bang for your buck" at the other hotel options along the bayfront or around the I-90/Peach Street corridor.

This place is filled with rats and scabs. Specifically, they house people scabbing at Wabtec in Erie. We asked them to do something about it, but they refused. Plus, they don't seem to care much about their customers or their community. I would definitely avoid it.

I don't understand why this hotel has negative reviews! My family and i always stay at the avalon and have always adored this property. It might be an older building however my family had a clean room, great customer service from house keeping and the front desk and you can tell this staff really goes the extra miles for the guests. WE WILL BE BACK!

When we arrived, we were surrounded by homeless people, some sleeping in the doorway. No evidence it was staffed or had patrons since there where no cars except one dilapidated one in the (unsecure) parking garage and one out front. Can't imagine there was a night club and two functional restaurants inside as advertised. We drove around the building twice and felt it was not safe to stop to go inside. It's unfortunate that it is being advertised as it is as it was not as it appeared to be. We've never been in a situation like this. We recommend staying close to the highway or at the waterfront. We hate to have to leave this review but we felt misled and unsafe and this listing should not be on trip advisor.
