I received an email telling me my room was ready, so we checked out early from another hotel where we had been for several night, and headed over. Upon arrival, around 11am, we were told we would need to pay $25 to access the room before 3pm. I am currently an Explorist but have been a Globalist other years, and I have stayed in many Hyatts and Hyatt Places, and I have never experienced this. That evening, we went into town for a light early dinner and returned back around 9pm, still slightly hungry. We ordered one $8 chicken Caeser salad (very good value), fries and a beer, which we split waiting for the food. Our bartender was very friendly. We were given the bill, tipped 20% or more and headed back to the room. Later my husband said, why was our bill $40 before tipping? We decided to ask at the desk the next morning. They looked into it and found that our bill also included a $15 cocktail that we assured them we did not order. They refused to refund us anything (or maybe give us a credit for something else - we ended up ordering and paying in full for 2 more salads to take with us to the airport) because we signed for it. Yes, we did. Otherwise, the hotel was nice. We used the pool a lot (since we had to use up all those hours waiting for our room). The room was good, etc. Of course it's a lesson learned to ALWAYS review your bill before signing ... but I guess it's also a lesson that when a Hyatt Place says your room is ready, don't believe them.
