Everything was great !! Snow Cap Mountains view from room made our day !!

This place truly surprised us. We absolutely love it. Room was large and comfortable. The best part of it was it backed up to a golf course where the local elk loved to graze. We had to wait for the elk to get out of our way to make it down the driveway. Room seemed newly renovated, although using an old vintage key was a throwback.

We checked in a day before our reservation and got a great room they assured us we could stay in for all 3 nights. At 4 pm after our first night we got a call that we had to move out of that room as it was reserved for someone else. Completely screwed up our day. The room we moved into was clean, but crappy. The TV wasn’t connected, the smoke detector and wall mount hair dryer were in the dresser drawers, the drawers weren’t functional and not attached to the rails so it was basically unusable. The AC turned on and off randomly. After 10 years of staying there when we’re in Estes, we won’t be going there again.

We stayed at Discovery Lodge in early October 2025. The property was well maintained and the rooms were clean and adequate. The lodge, (rustic looking motor lodge) is aging a bit and could use a couple of upgrades, mainly tech- wise ie. USB ports for charging devices and additional outlets. We did have a nice stay, and it is located right next to a golf course where many elk congregate during the rut. Breakfast, located in the office, was very simple and not much to talk about. Very convenient to town, the visitor center and restaurants. Nice stay, especially for the price.

To begin with don’t try to check in a little early, it’s not happening, not even 30 minutes early. The rooms have been updated and we’re clean, but the first thing we saw as we opened the door to our room is a huge rip in the carpet. Not a good first impression so far. The outside of the property is extremely rundown. The exterior part of the property has awful outdoor carpet that is pulling up, which is a huge trip hazard. The location of the ice machine is horrible and dirty. The continental breakfast was not replenished timely at all packages of oatmeal were offered, but absolutely no bowls to put the oatmeal in. Now for my opinion of the TV…….. oh my goodness. The sports channels had games from a day or two ago and for movies or shows you had to put in your information for Amazon, firestick, Netflix, etc. this is absolutely ridiculous and so frustrating. I would not recommend this property at all.

Booked a premium room through *******. When we arrived we were NOT provided the room we booked but a standard room instead. The front desk person confirmed we were in the wrong room. We requested a refund of the price difference but the front desk person said we had to reach out to ******* and the manager. I left my contact info with the clerk who said the manager would reach out to us but she never did. ******* just messaged and said the manager would not approve our refund! So...we paid for something we did not receive. Not only was it the wrong room, but the bed was hard, the walls are super thin (could hear people talking next door and above), there was an adjoining door missing the door knob with plastic paper stuck in place, and gum stuck on the top of the nightstand. Will never stay at this property again.

Don't let the views on the internet fool you. It's tricky driving into the lodge. Our room was small and the noise from the room above us was loud. Not all the jets in the hot tub worked. There's no closet to hang your clothes and hardly room for your luggage. No clock on the side table by the bed to tell time; the closest time is across the room and small on the microwave. The towels feel like sand paper - so rough! The pillows are flat and the mattress sounds creaky whenever you sit on the bed or move. We will never stay here again. And we paid over $200 for one night.

The price was low, but the bed was uncomfortable, the microwave perched on a small fridge and there was limited lighting in the room. Bathroom very small and had very little shelving. Shower was hot enough with good pressure. The motel is perched on a hill, so it was tricky parking. Breakfast starts at 7 but we left both mornings before that. Thank goodness there was a Starbucks nearby. I would not stay here again.
