Large rooms with view. Large modern bathroom. Secure access for returning after closing time. Bistro on-site. Central location to Woodburn & Broadwater for visiting family. Walking distance to Bowling Club, surf Club, breakwall, supermarkets.

Single room for $55 was lovely and clean. I shared amenities and I enjoyed staying there and a/c, tv fridge and jug just made me feel at home. I ate in my room and the food from the restaurant was delicious . Check out the painting on the wall of a local surf break…very impressive. I intend staying there again.

I'd been to the Illawong Hotel before, so knew it was basic but it was clean and central to everything. Don't think we could have booked anywhere else at short notice in the high season for $110 a night with an ensuite, fridge and TV. Worst part was probably our mattress being a bit "springy". As we stayed on a Saturday night, there was live music in the beer garden til 11pm, so of course it was quite noisy, but the Sunday night was fine, the music was only 2pm til 5pm. Our room overlooked the beer garden, so we could sit out on the balcony and watch, which we enjoyed. We had dinner in the restaurant on the Sunday night which was ok, normal pub food, staff seemed nice enough. For the price, we'd stay again for a couple of nights. We love Evans Head and can get there within 2 hours and it seems that not a lot of north coast pubs still do accommodation.

While the room was comfortable with air conditioning, it was very basic. The basin in my room had hair caught up in the plug hole. The woman’s bathroom was not attended to during my stay therefore it was starting to become quite dirty. I think a complete overhaul of the upstairs area is needed.

Cheapest accommodation anywhere - but you get what you pay for. The whole upstairs is in dire need of a refurb, but then prices of the rooms would increase accordingly. If you just need a bed for the night and a shower it's fine. Beds are fairly comfy and sheets and towels are clean, aircon and tv are a bonus. The kitchenette is hardly that though - there is no cutlery or crockery (maybe it's all been taken 🤔), just a dirty microwave and toaster. No fridge either. Still, for $55 a single room I won't complain too much.

Great retro accomodation, extra pillows would be nice. The shower will improve with the upgrades but added to the experience. Food 9/10, staff 9/10, ambience/beer garden 10/10, location 10/10. Overall, just great.👍

We were served a disgusting undercooked pizza that was so oily the topping slid off when we tried to pick up a slice. Sent it back to the kitchen and were given an equally disgusting replacement pizza that was as bad as the original. Even the fries were over cooked and not appealing to look at. It’s hard to stuff up fries - but somehow they did. When I went to the bar i was the only patron there. I stood directly in front of the barman for at least two minutes before he looked up from his phone that he was engrossed in to take my order. Will never be going back.

We headed to Hotel Illawong after a referral from some locals. The pub did not disappoint. Sitting in the beautiful beer garden in the sunshine with the doggos a perfect way to spend a Sunday. Live music was awesome. The menu was exceptional. The local seafood offering is impressive, we had the market fish ceviche, school prawns, mussels and heirloom tomato salad with yummy local stracciatella to share followed by pizzas. Everything was exceptional. Bloody Marys and Margaritas went down an treat. Thank you to your attentive staff Matt and Karina are absolute superstars. We will be definitely be back!
