Homewood Suites by Hilton Akron Fairlawn

If you want to stay in a Hilton hotel while in Akron then I would choose a different one. Our entire experience was anything but enjoyable. I try to avoid writing reviews like this but in this case I feel like I need to. I originally booked a stay here for a King Bed Suite for two nights. The day before our trip I noticed in the app that we had been switched into a suite with two queen beds. I called and was told we had been “upgraded” to a different room, but that we couldn’t switch back because they had no more rooms available. I didn’t make a big fuss about that because it wasn’t a huge deal, but then we arrived at the hotel. This hotel is advertised as “smoke-free” but our room was anything but that. Our entire hall smelled strongly of smoke and cleaning chemicals. Our room smelled even worse. When we got to the room we were SO disappointed, not only in the smell, but in how run down it was. There were tears in all the furniture, the ceiling had peeling spots, the sink was extremely hard to turn off all the way, and there were black spots on the walls in our room bathroom. We immediately spoke to the attendant at the front desk who told us there was nothing they could do because they were fully booked. She told us she would send someone up to spray the room to try to help with the smell and that we would be receiving half-off our hotel stay. We were only here for two nights and had paid in advance so we decided to accept that. The attendant who came up to spray said she could smell our room before we even opened the door. She sprayed and it helped a little bit for a few hours. We dealt with the smell for the rest of our stay. The breakfast was not great the next morning to add to our disappointment. When we went to check out we were informed that we would not be receiving the discount we were promised. Instead they gave us “additional” points. Had that been what was offered originally it would not have been acceptable and it was not definitely not acceptable once we learned we had been lied to and dealt with one of worst hotel stays we’ve ever had.

We were very disappointed with our stay at the Homewood Suites in Fairlawn Ohio at the end of June 2024. We stayed for 3 nights as a relative was getting married in Brunswick Ohio area. We stayed in a King 1 bedroom suite. I am a Silver Rewards member, getting closer to Gold, with plans to stay at other Hilton brands multiple times later this year in other cities throughout the U.S. For reference purposes, we have stayed in a Tru brand once, Hampton Inn & Home 2 Suites many times, and Homewood Suites a couple of times over the past several years. So we have a good idea of what to expect from each. First the positives of this stay... The room and bathroom was fairly clean and in reasonable shape. And the kitchen with full-size appliances was nice as well, although we only made use of the refrigerator. Some staff friendly and helpful. Now the negatives. Upon entering our room, we immediately noticed that the room was a bit warm. Didn't think much about it initially as we thought perhaps the A/C had just not been turned down much while vacant. Went to turn it down and noticed no wall thermostat control in the living area (the thermostat was missing from the wall with bare wires showing - not a good sign). Noticed the unit in that area was not running at all (not blowing air, much less not cooling). Checked the bedroom. While there was a thermostat in that room, I noticed it was set at 68, although the temperature was 74. Notified the front desk in person and the attendant there stated that there was no maintenance person around to look at it (it was around 4pm). She said she'd create a work-order to be looked at the next morning. Since this particular day was not very hot outside, I figured we could live with it (although it was pretty warm that night without sufficient A/C - definitely couldn't sit in the living area; fortunately the bedroom had a ceiling fan that helped). Did have to ask for toilet paper (almost out) and tissues (out) at front desk that evening as well. Would have thought this is part of normal room cleaning and inspection. Missing a floor mat in the bathroom as well, but just used a spare towel to step out on. [Also had to ask for some clean towels after a couple of days, even though signs in the bathroom indicate the room is refreshed every couple days for longer stays. Surprisingly, a floor mat showed up with the towels as well.] Went to breakfast the next morning (Friday morning) around 8am. What a disaster! Typically we'd find all sorts of choices - a few hot items, a few cereals, some pastry/bread items, yogurt, and fruits. And of course, waffles and toppings. The only things present were some hot items and one type of cereal. And it wasn't as if there was a massive crowd that morning that used everything up. Nope - it just wasn't purchased obviously. Even the juice options were limited and low quantity. They didn't even have any napkins down there. They had placed a roll of paper towels for folks to tear off a sheet fr

This review went from a disappointing 1 to a very happy 5!!! First of all, I loved my king suite. It was so spacious, and having the kitchen was great! However, this review had started out as a 1 due to my not having my hotel room serviced the entire time of my stay (4 nights). Grant it, the note on the bathroom mirror said that housekeeping services would be done every other day. I checked in on Thursday, and when my room was not serviced on Saturday, I went to the front desk and asked about service. The person at the front desk assured me someone would service my room on Sunday. No one did. I was so distraught that I was fighting tears!! I checked out on Monday, and the woman at the front desk was so apologetic, and told me she would see if she could get me some Hilton Points. Much to my surprise, a few days after I returned home, I received a $50 credit to my credit card. It definitely helped to change my what would have been a very negative review to a I highly recommend the Homewood Suites for your stay in the Akron-Fairlawn area review!!! Thank you!!!

I want to say this place is amazing . I came in one evening around midnight and the gentleman Sam at the desk was there to help . I had been traveling and did not have a reservation . He treated me and my family like we were part of his family. I’m cannot thank him enough . The other hotels in the area said they were “sold out” even though the parking lots were empty . Sam saved our family from sleeping in our rental car . He also recommended a great breakfast place called Wally Waffle which was very closeby. I will stay here again because of Sam and the hotel is great.

We enjoyed our stay~the room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the shower had lots of hot water. The only drawback was they put us in a room that was beside the highway and it was quite noisy with traffic all night long! We stayed on a Tuesday night and we didn't see a lot of people in the hotel, there were 400+ rooms so I don't think it was an issue of not having any other rooms to offer us.

Disappointed. No HAPPY HOUR as shown on website.Only on Wednesday. Peeling paint in Bathroom. Mold in shower area. would not recommend for the price. They allowed dogs in the breakfast area the dogs were barking all during breakfast.

My girlfriend is super picky about hotels, but this place was perfect. No complaints from her. Clean, inviting, friendly staff, awesome breakfast. This place is the real deal. Everything you could possibly expect from an overnight stay.

The rooms are clean, but the hotel is noisy. They don’t accept cash and you have to replenish all your supplies such as towels and coffee. They didn’t have enough clean towels the 2nd night we were there. To much money and too little service.

We stayed here one night in order to attend a concert at Blossom. The venue was only 20 minutes away, and easy to get to through back roads. The hotel itself is everything that is expected with Hilton - clean, easy check in, no fuss. The location is ok - not much within walking distance, so a car is a must if staying here. Shout out to the front desk and breakfast staff... all were very pleasant and efficient.
