worst ever room we have experienced paid £1499 for 2 people for bed and breakfast for 7 nights. Had room number 53, an accessible room as my husband is severely disabled, On arrival no help offered at all to get our luggage and necessary mobility equipment to the room, opened wardrobe door and a kingsize quilt fell out taking up most of the wardrobe space. Had to run hotwater for 10 minutes solid before it got warm in basin, plug was faulty so water would not stay in the basin. No hot water in shower, maintenance men arrived could not fix it other than to set it at one temperature meaning it could not be adjusted, ok for my husband but too hot for me. Wetroom not fitted with safety floor, ordinary tiles, very dangerous and slippy when wet. shower chair previously promised not in room, enquired and it arrived, ordinary plastic chair, did not conform to safety standards and no locking wheels. Also shower tray holder. rusty and looked like it had never been cleaned. Room looked out onto a fire escape and was next to the kitchens so we had constant noise from the extraction fans whenever the kitchen was in use. Although previously discussed with the hotel when booking, first morning at breakfast when requesting to take my disabled husbands breakfast back to the room was told this was not allowed and all Carole said she could supply was an egg and bacon muffin in a box, not at all what was agreed when booking. She advised me I should be using and paying for room service. Breakfast order wrong two days running, had one room service meal at night ordered for 8.30pm, arrived 8.00 hours, pizza in a box and chips, no cutlery, condiments, plates and we were charged room service as an extra. Most facilities not accessible by wheelchair users including the gardens, no ramps provided or built in. Staff pleasant but very young and lacked attention to detail. On final day we had arranged a late check out when booking due to my husbands dissabilities but the cleaner called asking could we vacate the room, she had not been informed of the late checkout. Sadly not what you would call 4 star luxury, have experienced better in a Blackpool B and B. Wonderful location but everything else spoilt the holiday for us, as the cost would normally have been outside of our budget but my husband has terminal pancreatic cancer and has been given until Christmas to survive so we decided to treat ourselves, St Michaels was a costly mistake! carers room was only a fraction of ours and was better in every way.
