Excellent service and attention to detail. Very friendly staff and they love dogs! Even an evening menu for them! Food always served piping hot. Good breakfast but poached eggs overcooked - not the end of the world! Check in very easy. Fantastic location.

A warm and welcoming pub/restaurant. Staff were well trained and so very friendly. The roast beef was fabulous and they didn’t scrimp on the portion size, especially the amount of beef on the plate. I won’t even mention the scrummy pigs in blankets!! I wish we’d had more time to go back for an evening meal, and would highly recommend visiting for excellent service and delicious food.

Really enjoyed our stay here, from the welcome to the goodbye. The room was well appointed and cosy with a large bathroom. Breakfast was a good selection and generous. We ate one night in the restaurant and found the food great quality at a good price all served with a smile.

The staff are amazing, friendly and great with kids. The food is great, breakfast delicious. Great food and drinks choices. Comfortable and clean. Beautiful building, a little dated but that adds to the character. Games room is a little hidden gem. I can't wait to come back. Thank you so much to all the staff you truly are an asset.

We stayed one night at the Cuckoo brow on a long weekend in the lakes. The hotel is in a beautiful, quiet location and ideal for a cosy getaway. The staff were all very friendly and the food and drink in the restaurant was very good. The bedroom was cosy and comfortable with a good bathroom. My only complaint was the "king sized bed" was two singles pushed together which inevitably moved apart if one of us was on the join.

We booked one night as a last minute get away just to get out of the house; the almost constant rain of late had us feeling like prisoners in our own home. First impressions were mixed, the hotel is definitely tired and overdue a refurbishment. However, the family running it were very warm and welcoming and although it’s tired, the place was clean. Our room (8) was not well sound proofed; I could virtually make out every word spoken on a phone call being made in the room below. We didn’t eat there for dinner as we’d booked elsewhere but we had breakfast and it was very enjoyable. We had booked B&B on a last minute deal from *********** and, for the price we paid, my wife and I thought it was value for money.

We've been on Holiday for many years to Hawkshead but only just fell upon this place today. We were really impressed with the quality of their food. We both choose the Steak and Guinness pie dish.... The Staff were so accommodating. A great dish.... The reason Iv not gave a 5 is because the dinning room was a little chilli, they hadn't lit the fire, this would of made a big difference in terms of comfort and ambience. However, it's not put us off, we will return.

Very comfortable old pub, large bedroom (6) and en-suite, good food (we had one dinner in), very good breakfasts. Friendly staff. Open fire and a wood burner makes it cosy, and good walking right from the pub. We walked from the chain link ferry and managed fine without a car for our stay.

We had an evening meal here for 4. The staff were very friendly and the food was also very enjoyable. Everything went very smoothly and the pub was reasonably busy - it's great to see this place starting to return to its former self : will certainly return. Worth the trip from Hawkshead.
