This was our third trip to the Maldives. When we saw all these super positive reviews on Tripadvisor, we didn't hesitate for a single second to book this hotel. But once there, seeing the reality, what a disappointment, and that's a weak word. Almost nothing matched most of these reviews. The only rare truths are in particular that this establishment is old and that no more investment is made (general condition of all the woodwork, tarpaulins on the roofs of several villas on stilts). But we can understand this better when we know that according to scientists, apart from the capital, the islands of the Maldives will all have disappeared in 2050. So, what is the point of investing at a loss. We must still be honest and report that our bungalow, although aging, was pleasant and clean. Just point out that they refill the small 50ml plastic bottles of shampoo every day using a plastic water bottle, at a discount. The staff was overall very nice. The wifi is indeed scandalously overpriced whereas in other hotels it was free, which is why we followed the advice to buy a sim card at the airport ($50 for 200 GB). We chose this hotel mainly for the food and the snorkeling. The food: EXECRABLE. Every day, with one or another exception, always the same dishes. And to think that some on this site talk about a rotation every fourteen days, but what a huge lie. The next day, we found certain things from the day before transformed into other dishes. For breakfast, three marmalades including rhubarb and two others without any taste, the same throughout our two-week stay. Same thing for juices with two choices, one of which was watermelon which they called “multi-fruit” and the other, often coconut juice. They really take us for ******. Bacon, either beef but the majority of the time it was “chicken bacon”, also without any taste, never seen that. You forget cold meats at every meal, there are never any (with the exception of three, of which we do not know what they are, and which turned green over the days because no one dared to risk them ). Forget prawns and other seafood, there are none. So-called pizzas, always vegetarian, absolutely inedible. For desserts, a choice between five or six, always including a sorbet and an ice cream, and very often guess what flavor?...watermelon. We are not going to dwell much more on the meals, except that we found the same very cheap dishes every day and there would still be a lot of negative things to say. It was night and day with our two previous hotels, the Vilamendhoo and the Safari Island. In both it was paradise (except the food at Safari Island). The coral reef ? Blah blah blah.
