I arrived at 2:30PM and asked if I could check in. The lady at the front desk informed me that the check in time is now 4PM and no rooms were ready (I had three). She took my cell number to call me when they were ready, we walked to a nearby shop. 4PM rolls around, no call, so I head into the lobby and the previous front desk person was replaced by someone else and they checked us in. I was also charged $10 for parking in addition to the rather high rate for the rooms. I parked around back and used the elevator to get to the second floor. The elevator doors where covered in scratches that were graffiti. When we got to the second floor it smelled like stale cigarette smoke. This smell was throughout the 2nd floor and still smelled the second day. Once inside the room, I turned on the AC and it didn't work, so I called for maintenance to come fix it. They arrived and "fixed" it. It never really blew too cold and I ended up opening a window to cool the room off. We went down to the "manager's reception" which is two drinks and some snacks (5-6:30) when did this change? The bar was circa 1970, dim, dark and small. This is where the reception was held. After our two drinks, we went back up to the room to look for the plastic laundry bag for clothes as I wanted to store separately that we had worn. None of the 3 rooms had a laundry bag. The room was dimly lit, the door in the bathroom looked haggard and worn. The ceilings are thin, as are the walls. The overall experience is that the hotel is tired and old. But hey, you get the great breakfast in the morning, right?? Nope! No omelet station and no bacon. One of the secrets to staying in Flagstaff is to avoid the railroad tracks and the noise of trains going all night. That is the only thing this hotel does well. At the rates, you can do better a lot better.
