Amazing stay

We were very disappointed with our recent stay at Benci House. We booked the Rovere Room, unaware that it sits directly above Moyo Bar, where loud music played until 3:50 a.m. every night. The street below was always crowded with people drinking, surprisingly, that wasn’t the worst part. It was the constant boom that made it impossible to sleep even with noise cancelling headphones. We asked to change rooms but were told they were fully booked. Based on the noise levels, I imagine this must be a common complaint, yet no warning was given at the time of booking. We expected a small boutique hotel, but in reality, this felt more like an Airbnb setup. We never saw the owner or any staff in person, all communication was via WhatsApp, and we had to collect our key cards from the bar downstairs (Moyo). Other issues with the room: Air conditioning was in the window, mostly blocked by long curtains. Lighting was very dim. The mini-fridge was warm and unusable. The toilet kept flushing constantly unless manually adjusted. The shower had no temperature markings, making it difficult to use. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I really wish someone had warned us about these things in advance. To be fair, the location is excellent, a taxi rank just steps away and very close to Florence’s main sights. But unfortunately, that’s about the only positive for us 😔

We loved our stay at Benci! It’s in a prime location and surprisingly quiet, given it’s above a bar. Super clean, cute, and comfortable. If you have a larger checked bag be aware there are steps up to the guest house, but it wasn’t an issue for us. The bar downstairs (Moyo Bar) is also very hospitable and a great spot for an espresso or drink. We had a car and the parking garage Benci recommended was close and easy to find. Would definitely book again and highly recommend!

There is a lot to love about this guesthouse and any critiques are more FYIs than true cons. As a guest house it isn’t like a traditional hotel but we loved it. Pros - staff was amazing. They used what’s app to communicate with no language barrier and were friendly and helpful. - free breakfast and serve yourself coffee - room was beautiful, the bed was so comfy and as we had an interior room, we didn’t hear any street noise at all. - loved the location near a trendier area away from the main tourist area. But still walkable from Tram 2 (but a bit of a hike!) Cons - second floor so not accessible - room was very small. We stayed two nights and had backpacks but if you are a heavy packer this may not be for you. - bathroom felt a bit dark. If you like brighter lighting to do your make up it may not be for you.

What a wonderful stay at this lovely boutique hotel. I loved the quirkiness of the room and coffee on the small roof terrace was very relaxing after long days of sightseeing. Sophia was very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend

Amazing bolt hole in the middle of Florence. Great location for all the major sights. Best night sleep all week, only slight small comment on the room we had, the bed was so big it took most of the floor space so opening 2 suitcases was a little difficult. Service impeccable and extremely helpful and attentive.

Spent three nights visiting Florence. A lot of attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. Shopping, David,, etc. Enjoyed our day.
