Riverside Inn and Cottages

We stayed at Riverside, King's Tide cottage, and the place smelled moldy and mildewed. I began coughing and wheezing, but I'm allergic to mold. We had to leave early so I could get back to my doctor/inhaler. (They did not refund our money for the missed last night.) The floor inside was notably slanted, the bathroom door was a vented closet door, there was a dead "Palmetto Bug" in the bedroom (I get they have these bugs there but isn't there a sweep before check-in?), the fence on the side yard was leaning, the "furniture" in the yard was dilapidated, and the end of the dock, where our son had wanted to fish, was under construction (wish we had been told about this!). The positive was it was a pretty good location...able to walk to town in two minutes.

What a great little place! Most accommodating for any need from beach towels to umbrellas! They have it all! Need a snack, fresh cookies daily and treats in the kitchen ! Self help breakfast for on the go!

My wife and I booked a room at the inn, #5 The Betty White room. Our first 24 hours we didn't have any hot water. The problem was taken care late afternoon second day. The inn is old but in good clean condition, however the floor, walls and ceiling are wood plank and you will hear every step your neighbor takes as well as their conversations. There are blinds on the windows but they do little to block out light. We bought cheap towels and blankets at Walmart to make it a little darker our second night. Very close to down town so everything is pretty much within walking distance. Parking is on the street.

The inn was tucked away just off the main drag of Folly beach but felt quiet and secluded regardless. I was able to easily walk to the convention center on the beach each morning. The staff was kind and welcoming and I loved the almost hostel feel of the common area with breakfast and drinks available. The room was small, cozy and comfortable. I would certainly stay again. A unique stay at the beach!

Very clean room - bit noisy (outside noise, bed noisy) - power outlets all used up, have to unplug something to charge phones etc. - bed mattress rolls you to outside of bed - great atmosphere and very friendly people.

Joyce and her staff of one are amazing. The property is not cookie cutter quality. You feel at home immediately upon arrival. Thanks for everything Joyce.

My two teenage daughters and I had a very pleasant stay in the Drunken Sailor Cottage. The location was an easy 5 minute walk to the beach. Also very easy to walk to restaurants and shops. I really liked that there were beach chairs, boogie boards and bicycles that any guest could borrow. We needed clean towels during our stay and Laura brought them right over. I would definitely stay here again.
