What is there to no like there but just to enjoy everything about this place and location....we didn't plan this place but found it through googling and tripadvior. So glad we did and had a wonderful time unexpectedly. Great views of Mississippi River that is walking distance for early morning stroll to see eagles and other birds plus nearby coffee cafe which was another bonus treat for visitors. The Irish pub that was recommened by friendly front desk lady was great local pub. We will definitely go back. IT's kind of place where you will always talk about because it left you that feeling of wanting to go back.

Great rooms very good breakfast, and amazing view of the river and could absolutely watch trains go by. The room was soundproof enough that the train noise was not bothersome, friendly to bicyclists let us keep our bikes inside, We also enjoyed Diner 372 which was nearby,

It's a lovely hotel: beautiful 19th century building facing the River; nicely rehabbed rooms; an interesting concept--somewhere between a hostel and a hotel, with various amenities but no conventional hotel staff. Reasonable prices. All good. Except this: I happened to book on the night a wedding was being held on the main floor, and even though I was on the second floor, far from the venue, the music was deafening and never ending--from 4 pm when I arrived to 10 pm. Unbelievably unpleasant after a long day of driving, and so disappointing that my experience was pretty much ruined. The moral is: do not book a room on the weekend, ever; and just to be safe, always check to see if a wedding is booked.

I happened to chose a night when the water heater broke and hot or lukewarm water couldn't be guaranteed. Antique charm with history so do not look for luxuries of pillow top mattress or fridge in the room. No view as windows were all iced over.

I had an excellent time at the Kingsley Inn. The staff was friendly, it was clean, and I liked being down by the river. My wife really liked the antique styling of the rooms, furniture, and common areas. If I were coming back to Fort Madison, I would stay here again.

I feel so lucky I found this unique gem of a hotel online when searching for a place slightly off the beaten path on our way to Saint Louis. Everything about it was charming, right down to the friendly staff at the amazing hotel bar. Thank you!!!
