The hotel is very stylishly designed and feels quite luxurious and the staff were all top notch, however there were a few things that were disappointing. First the positives: The rooms are designed with attention to detail with beautifully chosen hardware, ample hooks in the bathroom etc, a clever discreet little fold down ironing board, a nice little coffee and mini bar set up; effective block-out blinds, clean. The reception, valet, guest services and restaurant staff were all extremely accomodating, friendly and efficient. The whole look of the hotel is lovely. However, (now for the negatives): The rooms were very noisy. We had a street-facing room on the 5th level and found the street noise woke us up during the night. Also noisy groups of people were coming out of the lift (we were quite close) and the door didn't seem to block out the noise at all. Plus there were regular doors slamming at night. Once restless, if one of us rolled over in the bed, the whole thing shook. So I thought we could have a nice relaxing time by the pool to make up for lack of sleep at night. But no, if you are planning on a relaxing time enjoying the lovely pool area, be warned, it feels like a sleazy pick up joint...if you actually manage to get a sun lounge. There were groups of leering men in the cabanas. The staff insisted that only guests were admitted entry but we had to wonder when a group of young ladies left, just in their swimwear and walked across the road to the carpark, jumped in their cars and left....which made us question whether they were guests. Would I come back? I would certainly look into other options first.
