High Peaks Hotel

Hotel is comfortable and very near to Lake Matheson and Fox Glacier Viewing Point, receptionist is very friendly as well.

Great location! But very basic motel that you would expect! Near Fox glacier guiding for heli hikes!

Don’t know how this place got a 4 star rating. Check in was curt and unfriendly, the room was very basic, the TV didn’t work, the toilet seat was broken. In short we have stayed in 3 star establishments that were way better than this. Very poor value.

The room was very basic. There was a microwave and toaster to be shared by the whole hotel on the outside veranda. In the cupboard there were virtually no utensils (1 dessert spoon, 1 teaspoon, 1 plastic plate, 2 teacups and 1 wine glass!).  One of the two bedside lights didn’t work and there were no bedside tables.  Would have realised this at reception but when I went there to complain the reception was unstaffed.

Overall, the stay was nice and cozy. The room size was enough for couples. Only missing thing was thin line curtain in room as it was exposed to walking corridor.

What was in advertisement it’s not that. The hotel receptionist didn’t had knowledge of the area & also was not that helpful. This was due to language problem  The advertisement should let us know of amenities present -No groceries shop  - Room services not done  - Receptionist not in attendance  - Really the hotel was like ghost hotel - The rooms like prison - When requested to change the room with front doors opening - this was not approved although the room was empty  - Won’t recommend to my fan& friends

Very clean large room with a super king comfortable bed. The room had no cooking facilities and only a cold water tap at the sink. The fridge froze our milk as no milk was provided by them. Over priced for what we got. And the outside gardens could do with some attention.
