What I liked about the Lyf Hotel was its communal workspaces, the kitchen that can be used throughout the day, and the meeting and conference space, which is really good. The gardens weren’t used much because of the cold. The vegan restaurant was always full, though I didn’t try it. The room is comfortable for one or two people—at least the one I booked.
The location is good, in the Ostende area, with several restaurants and cafés nearby, including a very good Italian and a Vietnamese place. It’s an office district, so there are plenty of options, and public transportation is not far. It takes about 15 minutes by taxi to get to the exhibition center. The hotel itself is quite private.
I didn’t like that, under the justification of being sustainable, they don’t clean the room until the third night. So if you book for fewer nights, be aware of this. I had to request cleaning multiple times, and the staff, since they often work in replacement shifts, didn’t always communicate well with each other. It wasn’t until the manager stepped in that they finally cleaned the room.
Additionally, they charge an extra €2 per day on top of the reservation, something to keep in mind for longer stays.

They made a mistake and it took time to get a refund. I do not understand why the refund could not be made until I contact them again. They have all information they need to refund.

For the price I paid for my room (70€) I was very very happy. The receptionist who checked me in and out was friendly and helpful. I loved the design of the hotel and am a huge fan of these ‚open‘ hotel concepts. I would strongly recommend this hotel to younger people who are mobile working especially or travellers on a budget who want to interact with other people but don‘t want to go to a hostel. While I didn’t use the co working space it really looked amazing and had plenty of space. Moreover; their kitchen was large and appeared to have everything one needs. My mattress was comfortable and while I thought the room was very stylish I regretfully have to agree with the other guests that the design is more ‚only good in theory‘. The sink is not clearly marked (hot/ cold water) so it was only with some trial and error that I understood how to use it. In my opinion their ‚space saving‘ measures actually seem to take up more space and be quite inconvenient (can also agreeable poorly designed shower re water on floor). Moreover (and this is a personal peeve) my bed had two single duvets on it. As someone who likes to stretch out in bed I was upset at not having a double duvet on my bed as it had a negative affect on my sleep.

I did not know that a hotel could get so much wrong. The hotel was clean (no issue there) but the entire design of the rooms and organisation is backwards: - there is no space is the room. The "desk" is so small that even a laptop won't fit on it. And there is no space to sit at the "desk" anyway. This is because... - the room is split in the middle by the bathroom sink, which... isn't in the bathroom at all, but in a kind of shelf that eats up a lot of space (do look at the room pictures to understand - I have never seen such a thing in a hotel) - even that is poorly designed: you do not face the sink, so cannot reach easily the taps. And there is a mirror hanging over the sink, so access is really difficult - the breakfast is vegan. You want yoghurt? Can't do that. Cereals? Nope, because that would require milk. Butter with your bread roll? That's also dairy, not happening in this hotel. - the breakfast is served at a single communal table. You want to have a coffee in peace at your table to go with your vegan breakfast? Can't do that, there are other people at the table. It feels like someone who knows nothing about hotels took all the ideas inspired from their ideology and used them to sabotage the customers' stay.

Very nice concept of hotels
It is a very nice hotel concept! Beautiful architecture. The space in the room is well used. But the floor in and near the bathroom can be cleaner. Also, the terrace cannot be used in the evenings, we were not told about it, there was no information on the wall. So it was a bit awkward when the bar owner asked us to leave.

Dunkle, schlecht beleuchtee Zimmer, in unserem Fall mit kaputter Klimaanlage. 3 Nächte gebucht und der Techniker ist natürlich erst nach unserem Checkout wieder zu erreichen, d.h. 3 Nächte bei 28 Grad mit offenem Fenster & ohne Bettdecke. Zudem im gesamten Hotel kein tisch über Kniehöhe, also Arbeiten quasi unmöglich. Dank des Designs der Dusche wird auch immer der gesamte Boden im Bad nass. Aufzug funktioniert auch nur wenn er will. Personal an der Rezeption ist allerdings extrem nett. Die können ja auch für das miese Hotel nichts. Für im Schnitt 116€ pro Nacht hab ich aber echt schon besseres gebucht.
