We had a wonderful stay at Okura Hotel Fukuoka! The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and their warm hospitality made us feel right at home. The amenities were well-prepared and of great quality, and the housekeeping team was very thoughtful and attentive. The hotel has a gym, sauna, and swimming pool — entry requires an additional fee, but the pricing is reasonable.
We came to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Although no special decorations could be arranged, the hotel kindly prepared some birthday cookies as a gesture, which was very sweet. This hotel will definitely be my top choice whenever I visit Fukuoka again.

Although the hotel is a bit older, its facilities are comprehensive. There's an ice machine on every guest room floor, which is really convenient for cold drinks. The cleanliness is excellent, and the staff are very enthusiastic. The facilities are well-maintained. The cleanliness, service, and maintenance all reflect the high standards of a long-standing Japanese chain hotel. It's also very convenient for shopping.

The hotel is in Nakasu, which is very convenient for transportation. It's not far from Hakata or Tenjin, and the Ichiran Ramen main store is nearby, as are the yatai (food stalls). I've stayed at Okura hotels in Kobe and Kyoto before, and this Fukuoka one is pretty decent.

A typical premium old luxury hotel. Everything is as expected from an luxury hotel from the west. There is not much Japan vibes from the hotel but iverall still a very good comfortable experience. Though it's interesting to find out that some of the amenities (like gym and pool) need extra fees for use. The food here is also standard continental food.

Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Okura. Hands down the best Jap hotel we've stayed! Staff were incredibly polite, and we loved how the room was spacious and all the amenities were readily available - even comfy bedroom slippers, face towels (yes face towels, which are very uncommon in jap hotels) and 2 hairdryers. The bathroom had ample space for me to place me skincare and makeup products, and the toothpaste tasted good (I personally didn't like many other toothpastes in other jap hotels). Mugs for rinsing mouths were also made of ceramic with nice floral designs. There were enough hooks in the bathroom to place our dirty and clean clothes as well. Loved the blackout curtains and also that the toilet light doesn't flood the entire room with light (common in jap hotels), so my hubby could continue sleeping whilst I got ready for the day. Staff were also polite and greeted us each time we walked past, brought our luggage up to our hotel room, and facilitated a seamless check-in and check-out process. 2 bottles of fresh-tasting 550ml mineral water were also provided daily.

Rooms and location are great; swimming pool not being available to children is a bit of a minus.
Very negative experience with the staff at the reception: Booked a room for 2 adults + 1 child. Our booking confirmation very explicitly said "breakfast for 3 persons included" on every single day of the stay; only during the first breakfast we noticed that we had only been given breakfast coupons for two adults per day. In spite of pointing out repeatedly that this must have been a mistake at reception, staff repeatedly kept asking us to sign an extra breakfast fee for our 6-year-old daughter. Even after showing the booking confirmation to the staff at reception, they kept refusing to give the extra coupons for a while; we finally got them after continued complaints. Maybe the reason could have been a miscommunication between the hotel and the booking site (which however is the hotel's responsibility to fix). In any case, if you want to create the impression of being an anti-children hotel, this is exactly the way to go!

Really nice staff and very good place to visit. The hotel is connected to the Nakasu-Kawabata which is really convenient to travel in the city to Tenjin or Hakata.

The hotel is in downtown Fukuoka, one subway stop from Tenjin and two stops from Hakata Station, making it very convenient for shopping and dining. The room facilities are a bit dated, and the warmth and politeness of the service didn't feel as good as other five-star Japanese hotels I've stayed at.

This was my second time staying here, and not only is the place old, but the service quality has significantly declined. The room was small and cramped, and housekeeping only cleans between 10 AM and 1 PM. The toilet in the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly at all, which is a first for me in over 30 trips to Japan. I will definitely not be staying here again.

Staying here during a holiday meant the price was doubled, but the service definitely didn't keep up, making it absolutely not worth the money. This veteran five-star hotel is quite old. The first time I visited the Kansai region of Japan over ten years ago, I stayed at an Okura, and the experience back then truly felt like quality was guaranteed. This time, booking a hotel in Fukuoka was a struggle, and in the end, I decided to go with a familiar brand, hoping it would be reliable. I'm not sure why hotel prices in Kyushu have gone crazy. Also, it's really difficult to communicate in English with service staff in Kyushu. Last year, hotels in Kyoto and Osaka even had Chinese-speaking staff. As soon as I entered the room, it felt stuffy, especially the bathroom after a shower. The bed wasn't comfortable, and the furniture, carpet, and decor were incredibly 'old-fashioned.' Moreover, their pool, gym, and sauna require an extra fee and close by 8 or 9 PM. People with tattoos aren't even allowed in, not even with a cover-up! This really threw me off; I wonder if it was 'special treatment.' The front desk service was half-hearted, and the luggage info desk on the first floor was equally unenthusiastic and lifeless. I couldn't feel the warm and meticulous service expected of a five-star hotel. It's truly miles apart from what a Ritz offers. On top of all this, the breakfast quality hasn't changed from over ten years ago, which means they've been stagnant. Next time I visit Kyushu, I definitely won't choose this hotel again.

Here's a review of the hotel:
📍 **Location & Transportation: Extremely Convenient**
The hotel boasts a prime location in central Fukuoka, just a 3-minute walk (approx. 190 meters) from Exit 6 of Nakasu-Kawabata Subway Station, making arrivals and departures incredibly easy. It's within walking distance of popular attractions like Canal City Hakata (10-minute walk), the Anpanman Children's Museum (just steps away), and the Tenjin shopping district. Direct subway access from Fukuoka Airport makes it ideal for both business and leisure travelers.
🏨 **Service & Facilities: The Craftsmanship of an Established Hotel**
- **Service Attitude**: The staff are professional and courteous, always greeting guests with a smile or a bow. The front desk offers English and Chinese services (during specific hours), ensuring smooth communication.
- **Room Experience**: Although the hotel opened relatively early (1999, renovated in 2008), it's well-maintained. Room sizes are spacious by Japanese standards (twin rooms are approximately 30㎡), with good natural light and excellent blackout curtains. Toiletries include the Sekkisei series, along with Larm brand amenities, all of high quality.
- **Facility Highlights**: Features an indoor pool, fitness center, and parking (1500-2000 JPY/night for overnight guests). A back exit provides direct access to the canal, making it barrier-free for stroller or wheelchair users.
🍽️ **Dining: Rich and Unique Breakfast Options**
The breakfast offers both Japanese and Western selections, including local specialties like **Mizutaki rice, crispy puff pastries, and seasonal fruits (such as large Fukuoka persimmons)**. The taste receives high praise, but be aware that breakfast is quite pricey (approx. 3000 JPY/person). It's recommended to book a room with breakfast included or join their membership for discounts.
⚠️ **Minor Regrets & Suggestions**
- **Slightly Outdated Bathroom**: The bathtub design feels a bit dated, but this has little impact on guests who prefer showering.
- **Limited Housekeeping Hours**: Room cleaning is only available from 9 AM to 1 PM. If you plan to return late, you'll need to arrange it in advance.
- **Check-in/Check-out Times**: Check-in is after 3 PM, and check-out is before 11 AM, so plan your itinerary accordingly.
💎 **Summary: A Classic Choice Worth Repeated Stays**
The Hotel Okura Fukuoka stands out for its prime location, attention to service details, and excellent breakfast. Despite a few minor flaws, the overall experience far exceeded expectations. It's particularly suitable for families and business travelers, and I would definitely choose it again for my next visit to Fukuoka!

The hotel's location is excellent; it's a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Nakasu-Kawabata Station. The lobby is grand and elegant. Although it's an older hotel, it's very well-maintained, and the service is exceptionally attentive. It's convenient for getting anywhere, within walking distance to Canal City and the Tenjin shopping district. The rooms are spacious and clean, and they even provide small samples of Sekkisei skincare products. The breakfast at the restaurant is also good.

The room was quite spacious for Japanese standards, with excellent natural light from the window and effective blackout curtains. The toiletries, including shampoo and hand cream, were of high quality. Breakfast offered a good variety of Japanese and Western options. While the staff in the restaurant, at the front desk, and for luggage storage and inquiries weren't perfectly fluent in English, their service was professional and thorough. We visited during the 'Respect for the Aged Day' long weekend, so the price was a bit higher than usual, but still reasonable. Having stayed at the Okura in Tokyo before and had a wonderful experience, it's great to see the brand's excellent reputation being maintained.
