Watson Lodge Guest House

We were unable to attend due to a covid infection, they would not refund a 88 year old man who is ill, blamed Expedia/booking agent for the non refund a disgraceful attitude. I would advise all to avoid all costs there are better more accommodating places in the area.

This is a small guest house in the centre of town. It was difficult to find a place to park at first but after 5.30 pm a space became avialble outside. I was expecting an ensuite room but we had a separate bathroom which could be shared with another room. But at present they are not letting out the other room. The ladies who run it were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was cooked to order and fresh. The whole place is scrupolously clean.

Very Covid-aware, doing all they could to keep guests Covid-safe and protected. Very friendly welcome. Room a bit basic but had all we needed. Central to Galashiels facilities. We enjoyed exploring the town before resuming the Southern Upland Way.

A spotlessly clean room and a warm welcome were all plus points. The accommodation was also perfectly sited right in the middle of the town with a super Wetherspoons minutes away. On street parking could present problems as there is no car park. Only wee complaint was the breakfast. The cooked breakfast was ok but small and poor compared to other hotels I have stayed in. No black pudding, haggis , tatty scone, mushrooms,or square sausage. And only fried eggs no choice,although the lady who served it was lovely Overall good but bfast is important for a short stay and that would put me off going back.

We really can’t fault our stay, it was perfect for us. The guest house was scrupulously clean through out and their Covid measures are well considered. We stayed in room 4 which had the hugest of beds and was so comfortable we could have slept forever. The shower was hot and powerful which is always something that ticks a box for me. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very tasty - the scrambled egg deserves a special mention as was cooked to perfection. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The guest house is in a central location making it very handy for exploring the town. However despite the locality it was really quiet and we weren’t conscious of any noise when we were in our room even with the window open. We got very lucky securing a parking space right outside when we arrived. We would happily stay again if we are back in the area.
