Classic hotel. The 80’ 5*. Great view from room 222. Nonetheless the room is outdated. The elevator is ages old. Good for short stay. The location is superb with walking distance to Morrisons and Aldi.

Such a shame and with deep sadness I have to write about my recent visit. Celebrating a birthday weekend with friends, both local and from further afield. A trip to the Midland to show off the iconic building was a must. Took a drink in the Rotunda Bar bench seat covered in sand!!!!! Table not pristine. Expensive £40 for a bottle of wine, a large red and a small coke. Pinot Grigio not the best too sweet - costs £7.35 in Tesco. OH DEAR! the place has been left to slide downwards. No A la carte dining. Unable to pre-book a table. Three phone calls to make a rservation cut off after 5 minutes on hold, head office not much help. You can only book for a table of 8 or more. I would not want to arrive with 4 friends and not sit looking over the bay, at worst be in the old reception area. Unable to view the stone work that was behind the old reception. Definitely a disappointment from a previous fan. Sorry

The Midland is a nice place to stay and perfectly situated on the seafront with amazing views. I may have been a bit harsh on my sleep review for the following reasons - It was very hot that day and with no Aircon the room was stifling hot with only a fan and large patio doors, which I left open and then I had all the noise from outside and it didn't really cool down, at 04:45 a women started singing in the next room, so deep joy there (she was terrible too). Not a great nights sleep and a long day coming up, I felt I didn't sleep. The room overall was lovely but showing signs of requiring an update. I understand its art Decco but at £65 a night I would have expected it to be plusher with bottles of water supplied. Coffee pod machine very nice touch. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would I stay again yes.

our room was pleasant ,modern ,clean, the only major problem was the constant droning noise, thus making it impossible to get a good nights sleep.When i stay in an hotel I expect at the least to get a peaceful rest especially after a long drive up from holidaying in Cornwall. Another issue I had was the disgusting state of the dustbin in the breakfast room. Yes it did contain a black plastic bag but the exterior of the bin looked like it hadn't been cleaned/washed for weeks. The general cleanliness of the floors especially the corners and edges of the ground floor,

Superb location with views of the Bay and across to the Lakes. Staff excellent, not just well-trained but ‘nice’ as well. Food excellent with good choice at breakfast and for dinner, especially the Chef’s recommendation.

My partner, myself and our 4 month old puppy stayed in a beautiful suite with bedroom and on suite bathroom, lounge and kitchen with another toilet (very handy) just off the kitchen. Huge glass patio doors to a huge outdoor terrace with balcony including table and chairs which we had our evening meals on while enjoying a most beautiful view. The breakfast and dinners were excellent. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The suite was expensive but WORTH IT. There are also cheaper rooms which are also very beautiful and we usually stay in these, the suite was just a treat to ourselves. Only marked down for container full of cigarettes on the terrace not emptied (easily missed) which we soon sorted and was not a problem. Will we be back ??? We booked the Midland again the day after we got home.
