Best Western Plus Seawall Inn Suites by the Beach

The room was fine and the location was perfect for the fishing docks. But there was a man banging on a door at 1am because his daughter was locked in. I feel for them but the hotel attendant acted like there was no way for them to help when we called.

The place was clean very friendly great service. The bed was the best.

Old and fairly dirty. The lamp in our room was filthy. It was ok for 1 night. Bed and sheets were clean. Water has to be bought at the front desk can only be paid for with cash.

My wife and I are long-time Best Western customers and Rewards members, so we booked this stay through the rewards program for a large family getaway. We specifically wanted four of the Two Queen Suites because they are "huge" (about 400 sq. ft.) and sleep six people with the pull-out sofa. To avoid any confusion, we bypassed the 800-number and called the hotel directly to speak with an employee. We were verbally confirmed for four of these specific suites on the 3rd floor. The Issue: Upon arrival, we were told there was no record of our suite reservations and that we only had standard, much smaller two-queen rooms. It was heartbreaking to hear our large group would be cramped after we had been so diligent. The staff initially insinuated that my wife was mistaken, which was very upsetting since we both clearly remembered the confirmation call. The Resolution: The manager wasn't available during check-in, but the staff eventually found notes confirming we had called and requested those four suites. Despite the apology, they could only upgrade one of our rooms; the other three remained in the smaller standard rooms. The Property: While the free breakfast is really nice and the property is clean, the "Beach View" description is misleading now. The beach is actually quite far away, separated by about 400 to 600 feet of marsh. Additionally, many houses have been built in that area over the last few years, blocking most of the view. Advice for Travelers: Document Everything: Even as Rewards members, our mistake was not writing down the name of the person we spoke to. If you call directly, get a name and an emailed confirmation immediately. Alternative: Book your stay at the other Best Western a few miles down the road on the Seawall (Best Western Plus Galveston Suites). It is much closer to the beach, offers a guaranteed beach view, and comes with that standard free breakfast we all love. The staff was "nice" enough and the property is well-maintained, but as loyal customers, the stress of this reservation fail was a huge disappointment.

Lovely family stay great restaurants walking distance!

Had we been able to sleep, this would have been a great night's stay. The room was spacious, the bathroom clean with good water pressure, the beds comfortable and great heat/A/C. But the walls were so thin, we heard EVERY voice, every action, and every footfall down the hall. There was free continental, hot breakfast and outdoor pool on site. Cruise terminal is 1.7 miles away. You can leave your car here for free on 7-day cruises.

Be very careful. The man at front counter (who might be manager) said "it's your lucky day. We've upgraded you to a suite." I thought how nice. He did not tell us that it would be $125 more which I didn't notice until home. 4 calls & they never answered. Best Western Corp would not help after 2 calls! Room was dingy & old. Breakfast was meh. Rarely anyone at front desk - manager or man was out front on phone most of the time. We do road trips constantly & will NEVER stay at another Best Western!
