This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in anywhere. It's like stepping back in time. The room was a bit small, but it was just the two of us so it didn't matter. The bed was very comfortable and well appointed. The shower head system was a bit too complicated and there really wasn't enough pressure for all the different shower heads on it, but I was able to figure it out. Still I would have preferred a simpler shower head.
The lobby, the bar, the pool...everything is beautiful and classy. The new renovations look great!

This place is absolutely beautiful. Everyone was crazy friendly, and helpful! The beds were a little stiff in our room. We went for some paranormal activity, but nothing happened unfortunately.

The hotel is beautiful. It seems more geared to couples but there where families with children. The pool had a swim up bar. Breakfast was very tasty at the hotel restaurant. We enjoyed our stay. The only 2 things that need help. The bed was very uncomfortable and BE CAREFUL in the shower. The water goes from cold to scolding hot and it's hard to get the temperature to stay where we wanted it.

So I booked this location due to the history when I searched in Marriott Autograph. It was our 32nd anniversary weekend. I called in before the reservation, noted it in the comments etc- got a reply back on that it was noted. The restaurant even asked when I booked the reservation are you celebrating something I said yes our anniversary. Nothing- we received nothing from any venue. We tried to swim in the pool that is stated on the Marriott app and Tripadvisior it’s heated. It is NOT. When we asked about getting it heated we were told by the worker oh it’s been broken. However the front desk, Jan, said it has not been heated for 12 years! The hot tub had about 12 people in it so we were not about to get in that and the beach was closed due to the hazardous conditions. There was a huge wedding happening so lovely but forget about returning for an anniversary they could care less. When I complained about the no heat and no acknowledgement to my prior planning we finally got a bottle of bubbly delivered sometime but it was so late and not worthy of their “grandness.” The front desk lady, Jan, just complained how she hated Marriott etc, etc all Marriott’s fault etc. The restaurant was bad for dinner. The choices were bismal and the server was putting my dinner entree on top of salad plate? Who serves like that? It was more like fast food also not fine dining because the whole dinner was way under an hour. We couldn’t try the bruncn because we had to take off early so I can’t comment.

This is the most elegant hotel on the Texas Gulf. With the extensive renovations completed it competes with some of the most beautiful hotels I’ve stayed in the US. Simply elegant renovation- Lobby is beautiful, lobby bar is perfect, pool is fabulous, and the grounds are gorgeous. The deluxe rooms are worth it for the extra space. Really great location, you can walk to the Pleasure Pier and the islands favorite restaraunt, BLVD Seafood. Bravo.

Great stay and love the Hotel. Rooms are very small and so much for “ocean view “ the ocean is not even remotely close , The windows are screwed shut so no fresh air breeze . I expect more for my money .The Hotel has been renovated and has neat history . Honestly it’s overpriced for the small rooms .Restaurant was delicious and Valet was attentive. Not RESORT VIBES

Beautiful property rich with history. Easy access to the seawall for strolling. Short walk to Pleasure Pier if you’re traveling with children or for those looking for a fun date night to be kids again.

If you have never been to Galveston the Grand Galvez is your reason to go. A true Grand Hotel where timeless luxury blends with modern amenities. This was my second visit in 6 months and have found that there is no reason to leave the hotel during a stay--as all that is needed is available in the Hotel. From the amazing Sunday Bruch that can only be found at a Hotel of this caliber to the room service that arrived timely, well prepared and as fresh as if you were in the restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive and goes above and beyond to fulfill your needs. The maintenance of the hotel is amazing for a building that has been around 113 years. It's a treasure for those who want to experience what it was like in days when architecture and design was extraordinary. This hotel is a must for anyone visiting Galveston as it is the most beautiful place on the island! It really is something to see.

This is a very historical hotel. It has tremendous history and throughly enjoyed walking around the hotel and reading all about it. Our room was very clean, linens nice and crisp, bathroom was very nice with amenities. We had a great view looking out over the Ocean.
