I love this hotel. Beautiful elegant old building. Oozes charm and the staff are just the best! I’ve been twice now and it just gets better. It’s a small hotel and every guest is treated like royalty. They listen to what you like and are so willing to help. Super close to the airport yet so secluded and peaceful. It’s a treat. We will be back.

Magic place - cannot recommend enough! We had book 3 nights upon arriving in Sri Lanka to decompress and acclimatise. Due to the airline’s change of schedule we ended up arriving 3 days early, so spent 6 nights in Uga Riva. And we loved every single moment. The house is beautiful, authentic and soothing for eyes and mind. The rooms are perfect and very clean. The good is really good quality with a sense of the details. For example a great breakfast every day - good coffee, great fruit juices, best omelette etc. And also wonderful dinners and cocktails. The garden is fantastic. And most importantly the whole team gives you a warm, attentive, yet private, very genuine experience. We felt utterly at home and had the most magical, tranquil and soulful days chilling by the pool, playing cards on the veranda, napping in our comfortable rooms and watching the wildlife in the garden. We left feeling deep inner calm before embarking on our Sri Lanka adventure. Perfect stay! Don’t miss out on staying at Uga Riva!

Beautiful boutique hotel and an ideal place to begin or end a Sri Lanka trip. The property is stylish, intimate, and very well maintained, with attentive service from a genuinely welcoming team. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, while the beachfront setting provides a relaxed atmosphere despite being close to the airport. Food quality exceeded expectations, and the hotel struck a good balance between luxury and authenticity. A great choice for travellers looking for a calm and comfortable stay near Colombo airport.

Very pleasant location, quiet and relaxing. Mr. Chanduka was a very nice Butler and provided good services. The pool is clean and we would overall come back for a night or two.

Perfect place to recover from a long flight (or flights) for a night or two, this historically significant boutique property is an oasis of calm. A warm Sri Lankan welcome flows smoothly into introduction to one of the 9 suites, set in large quiet grounds, with excellent and generous breakfast and dinner served outside your room. Rooms are well-equipped, and the property also boasts a welcome swimming pool. Due to global events our Emirates flight via Dubai was swapped for Türkish via Istanbul, the latter being on time and a decent service, albeit with fewer daily flights. Travellers visiting Sri Lanka should consider using the Silk Route arrivals service, which makes the airport transit very smooth. Swapping major currencies for LKR is easy at the airport (passport required), with good rates and the ability to request preferred denominations - ATMs tend to dispense larger bills. Our driver, Manjula, met us at the Silk Route lounge and remained at our service throughout our stay, we could not have asked for better. Our final stop on our tour of this spectacular island. Not disappointed..enjoyed chilling by the pool lingering over lunch & cocktails. Loved the concept of dining outside your room. The Sri Lankan food, especially the local fish was superb. Chanduka & his team looked after us so well & despite being busy they organised a late check out, which was much appreciated with a long disrupted journey back to London ahead of us (due to the gulf situation). The room was lovely (despite no sea views), had a great nights sleep & we loved the personal feel of being in this small but gloriously formed hotel. Perfect location close to the airport in a residential area of Negombo. Ideal for the start or end of a trip to Sri Lanka.

Theoretically this was to be our last night here prior to our departure flight the next day, in the event we were delayed by 3 nights. What a delightful tranquil place. The rooms were very spacious and very well equipped. Extremely friendly and welcoming team. The grounds were delightful too. The pool was very welcome in the hot climate and big enough to have a decent swim, very well maintained. You ate your meal on the veranda outside your room which was lovely. Food very good and plentiful. Would happily stay there again.

We had a very enjoyable two night stay at Uga Riva in Negombo. The property is a beautifully restored colonial villa set in peaceful gardens, with a lovely pool and a very relaxed atmosphere. With only a small number of rooms it feels intimate and calm, more like staying in a private house than a hotel. The staff were extremely warm and attentive throughout our stay and the food was excellent. It’s also very convenient for the airport, making it a perfect place to start or end a trip to Sri Lanka. We stayed in a Deluxe room, which was located near the entrance to the property. If we returned we would probably choose a Superior room, as these overlook the gardens and have king-size rather than queen beds.
