The Woodview Inn

We have been wanting to try The Woodview Inn for a couple of years and just couldn't fit it in, until yesterday :) My wife and I were in the area on business and decided it would be a great time to try the Inn and Graydons. Seeing as it was off-seasons and mid-week there weren't many visitors, in fact I think we may have been the only patrons spending the evening. We checked in with John with pleasant conversation. We also had opportunity to say hello to Steve, which is nice - knowing your Innkeepers off the hop is great. We were tired and took a quick nap before dinner at Graydons. We originally found the Woodview in using TripAdvisor to find restaurant options in Gan on a separate trip, and we were excited to try it out. Graydons is located on the main floor of the home in what I assume was the original dining room in the dwelling. We had a drink in the lounge by the fireplace prior to dinner and then took our seats in the dining room. It is very well decorated (as is the home, that decorated in a traditional meets eclectic fashion). Service was excellent as was the food, the food was very good! We had a nice Chianti, we shared a baked brie appetizer that was fantastic. My wife had the cola braised short ribs and I had the bone in pork chops. All of the food was absolutely fantastic, we will be back! Our room was the Sir John room (all rooms are named after a member of the Innkeepers respective families). The room was comfortable, well appointed with heating and A/C. The shower had great pressure and plenty of warm water. When we return, we plan on requesting the same room! When in Gananoque give Woodview Inn a try. It is a 10-15 minute beautiful walk to downtown and the waterfront, and we think the Inn will satisfy all your needs.

My family and I stayed on a rainy April weekend. The inn was cozy and comfortable, and host Steve and his staff were warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. The guest rooms in the inn are beautifully appointed, beds are comfortable, the lounge is welcoming, and Graydon's restaurant gave us a fantastic celebratory dinner. What a lovely way to escape for a couple of days! Will definitely come here again.

Our first time spending over night ,and we both had a very pleasant time. We highly recommend to others.

We walked through the door and were immediately welcomed with the bright, warm smiles of John and Steve, the owners. They took our bags and gave us a tour full of interesting historical nuggets. The entire mansion is stunningly decorated with a rich and romantic flair. Nothing is simply utilitarian, but chosen for its beauty as well. Our suite, the Lady Elizabeth, had everything you could want and more. The bed was sumptuous, wine and rock glasses were provided, the bathroom was immaculate and everywhere there was caring attention to detail. We had a delicious dinner in the elegant and cozy dining room. The service was great. Morning came and a thoughtful breakfast cooler was placed outside our door. Among its many goodies were champagne and orange juice, a very nice touch! They allowed us a late checkout which we needed as we were slow to leave the luxurious cacoon of a room. Steve and John were excellent hosts. Spouting charm at every corner, the Woodview Inn is an exceptional getaway we hope to have the pleasure of repeating! - Cynthia and Matthew

It was a wonderful get away place. Beautifully decorated. Clean. Good size breakfast hamper. Owners and staff were very attentive - really nice people. Everything you needed!

The host is a very nice man! The room is very clean and so quiet. It is pity that no bathtub in the room. Breakfast is cold food, not suitable for Chinese people

We booked the Inn through ******* for our anniversary weekend. We were not disappointed. The main house and the rooms were beautiful and clean, the owners were polite, happy, and remembered our names for the entire weekend. ( Trust me that is a big deal). The breakfast coolers had fresh fruit, homemade muffins and croissants, and I would highly recommend reserving a time for their in house restaurant. The food is to die for, it may be expensive but you only live once, and it does not disappoint. Overall fantastic stay.

This review is more about expectations, the Woodview Inn is NOT a bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, I should have done my research better. It is a beautiful Inn with a fully licensed restaurant. Which means you cannot consume your own alcohol except in your room or a little ***** of grass overlooking the back parking lot. We had booked one of the garden suites and it felt more like a small hotel room, unfortunately it didn’t have that old Victorian charm. I think we would have had a better experience if we had booked a room in the main house and at the same time made a reservation for dinner. The good thing is, it was an easy walk in to town. They do give you a complimentary breakfast cooler the night before (it consists of a croissant, apple, banana, granola bar, little package of cheese, yogurt, orange juice and Prosecco). In the morning we were allowed to take our cooler to their dining room and eat it there where we would be served coffee and tea. Unfortunately for us what we were really looking for was a B&B with a hot breakfast and a little place to sit outside in a garden/veranda and have a glass of our own wine. It’s not the Inn keepers fault I didn’t do my due diligence they were very nice people and the main house is beautiful inside. I’m guessing the dinner must be fabulous because they are booked weeks in advanced.
