The room was very very clean. The boss was very welcoming and pointed out the good places nearby, which are must-eats in Penang. There were very authentic Nyonya snacks every day. The service was beyond expectation.

As described on the website, the building is old and also the interior of the building is old-fashioned. But the rooms have everything you need, and in fact I found the bed very comfortable and the airco very well (and quietly) functioning, so I had a really nice rest in this hotel. It's also very well situated, close to the Armenian street and other lively streets of the town. Only the breakfast is very basic (coffee and toast), and the staff is not always very communicative. But on the other hand, I received a tea and cake when I returned to my room in the late afternoon to fresh up, and also when leaving the hotel, I received a little package with a drink and cake, so that was very attentive.

We saw the good reviews but were still pleasantly surprised by how wonderful this lodge is! We stayed in the Frangipani room with two single beds. It was small but had everything we needed and was very clean. The AC worked very well. The street is not touristy and overall was quiet but had several places to eat across the street for breakfast/lunch. We booked directly on their website which I highly recommend for the best value, and they even included a small breakfast with local toast and jam, and tea. Every afternoon we came back to rest and they gave us tea and a sweet treat. Such a special place.

We had a pleasant stay here. The owners/staff were very hospitable, accommodating, friendly and very helpful. Our room was cleaned daily (by default) with fresh flowers (mostly orchids grown by the owner himself) to perk up the room. The Teaffin Cafe downstairs is where we could relax and have a good cuppa with cakes/pastries. Location is close to many local eateries. Should you need anything, just ask them and they will try their best to help/accommodate your request. Would we come back and stay again? YES, we definitely will!! Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Penang. This place is located in an old colonial building in the historical center. Most of Georgetown attractions are within walking distance. The room was just average but comfortable. The hospitality of the staff was great. The manager greeted me with recommendations and a map marked with the best stops. There would be fresh flowers in my room everyday and the staff brought me complimentary afternoon tea. I am happy that I stayed here!

The manager was incredible, a fantastic host, very welcoming. He provided great information on restaurants and events. Please follow his recommendations, you won't regret it! The staff was great, so helpful. The hotel has a boutique character charm to it, and is situated at an excellent location, walking distance to food night markets, nice restaurants, museums and more. My room was comfortable and clean. Everyday, it was nice coming back to my room after a long day of sightseeing and finding fresh cut flowers and receiving a complimentary hot tea with a treat. Magnifique! I highly recommend Betel Nut Lodge, and will definitely come back when I'm in George Town.

BETEL NUT LODGE is conveniently located in a busy and quiet area. It only takes 3-5 minutes to walk to Shantou Night Market! I stayed in an *Areca* room type. Although the window of the room faces the street, it is well soundproofed. The basic equipment in the room is complete and the wifi signal is good. Booking from the official website is less expensive than the intermediary hotel website. There are less refreshments provided every day. Although it is ordinary, it is Show the landlord's thoughts. I would like to give a special thumbs up. The whole hotel is very clean and the staff is kind. The price/performance ratio is very high.
