Charlie's Budget Hotel

This hotel is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in and we have been travelling around Asia for the last year staying at over 100 hotels. Firstly we found Georgetown accommodation at the higher end of our budget however looking at the reviews for this hotel and the clean simplistic photos we decided to go for it for 3 nights (£25 per night) On arrival the staff on the desk were strange and uninviting, all men sitting around and ignoring you, it was a weird atmosphere. We were then shown our room which was unclean and smelly and we immediately noticed there were questionable white stains on the duvet cover so we asked to change the cover as we weren’t convinced they had been washed, when the staff member came in to change the cover the actual duvet and pillows were disgusting (photos attached) the walls were stained and yellow and the shelves were full of rubble and dust. In addition to this, there was constant screaming, arguing, and children running through the corridors playing loudly waking us up at all hours, I believe they were children of the hotel management. We also heard a massive domestic argument that actually scared us as we believe a woman was pushed down the stairs and hysterical, when we ran out to ask if she is ok she claimed she fell, it didn’t seem right however the noises were excruciating and this hotel is very small just metres from the reception desk with no staff in sight to investigate. We don’t expect a lot for our budget but we expect cleanliness, that’s non negotiable. Please stay clear and spend the extra money if you are a budget traveller in Georgetown.
