Cocana Resort Gili Trawangan

The best hotel on the island! Open ocean views, well-maintained grounds, and a beautiful beach. High level of service. We will definitely come back again.

Our overall experience at Cocana Resort Gili Trawangan was excellent. The hotel is new and very well-maintained, and the pool and beach areas are incredibly picturesque, especially at sunset when the ambiance is just perfect. The breakfast offers a wide variety of choices, and the staff are all warm and friendly. It's also super convenient to bike to the main restaurants and bars on the island from here. I recommend bringing sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and snorkeling gear, as the sun on the island is very strong. Rooms close to the sea might occasionally have mosquitoes, so remember to keep your doors and windows closed. If you're lucky, you can spot sea turtles right in front of the hotel – I highly recommend snorkeling in the early morning when there are fewer people and the water is clearer. Since there are no motorized vehicles on the island, if you have a lot of luggage, I suggest booking the hotel's horse carriage transfer service in advance; it'll save you a lot of effort.

Every staff member at Kokana was incredibly friendly from the moment we checked in until we checked out. The resort's spa, restaurant, beach club, and pools were all clean and excellent. I really miss it and would love to visit again if I come back to Gili Island.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It definitely doesn't live up to its price. The hotel grounds are very well-maintained and beautiful, and the breakfasts are fantastic. The food at the beach club was also delicious, though expensive. However, the room wasn't exactly 'wow' – you could tell it was a bit dated. We were shocked that they didn't provide toothbrushes; how is that possible for a 5-star hotel? And the staff was a bit odd – many spoke English in a way that was hard to understand, and they seemed to invade personal space (having every single staff member greet you and ask how you are is a bit much, in my opinion). Plus, one of the waiters was persistently pushing a snorkeling tour on us. Perhaps it's the best you can get on this island, but having stayed in luxurious villas in Bali for half the price, we expected more.

If you're going to Gili Island, you absolutely HAVE to stay at this hotel!! The beach is right in front, and you can access the pool directly from your room. It's incredibly stylish! 🌠💗

Great hotel, with very attentive and friendly staff. The villa was clean and beautiful, and the breakfasts were delicious; you really feel at home. We had an early check-out at 6 AM, and they even prepared breakfast and coffee for us to take away – so thoughtful! The only downside was the slightly intrusive housekeeping. They would knock on our door in the evenings, and if we didn't open it because we were already asleep, they would enter the villa and knock again, asking if we needed room service. A bit strange, to be honest.

Environment: The best hotel on T Island, with a superb setting. Our one-bedroom villa had a lot of plants, which unfortunately meant quite a few mosquitoes, but the room was well-equipped with repellents. Facilities: There's a pool and a sunset club. In the mornings, there's a dedicated yoga area where you can join free yoga classes. Service: Upon arrival, we were offered an upgrade to a villa for 2000K. The perks of the villa were free bicycle rentals and complimentary use of snorkeling masks; other room types had to pay for these. Other than that, there wasn't much difference.
