Ocean House Hotel at Bass Rocks

Sold a room that was to hold 6 people. Only given beds for 5 people. Told the manager and was told nothing they could - code says the room fits 6. Maybe code does say that - but you only provided beds for 5 and no staff wanted to help. The mattress for the sleeper sofa only big enough for one person was stained, had mildew, and looked filthy. Bathroom was dirty. Floor was dirty. Hairs and scum all over the room. Room only had a superficial cleaning. Shower bottom eas disgusting. Scum everywhere. Hotel staff would not even come look at the room. Told us it was “checked off” as clean. We were ok with paying for out awful Thursday night stay. We asked to be given our money back for the Friday night stay so we could find accommodations that would work for my family. We were told no refund. Only 15%. That was insufficient and wrong. We then had to go spend over $100 to buy an air mattress so that my son had a place to sleep. Staff is experienced and not knowledgeable. Motel policy is all they could regurgitate instead of properly assessing the situation and finding an adequate solution. We will be reaching out to corporate and expressing our displeasure and awful stay we had. We may also be contacting an attorney about the false advertising of the room having accommodations for 6 people but only really can sleep 5. Our reservation also included access to a pool……this pool was not operational and no discount given for the lack of a major amenity. We would like to be reimbursed for our stay and our out of pocket costs. Adam E 518.641.9036

Stayed here for the second time .Love the location.So peaceful.Great continental breakfast.Friendly staff.Clean room though bathroom needs help.Overall great experience.Will definitely be back.

Excellent place to anchor during a short trip to Cape Ann. Quiet, but close enough to the ocean that you could hear the waves crashing into the shoreline at night. Stunning view. Highly recommended.

Excellent location and accommodations wish it had been a little warmer, but thi is quintessential New England spring at the beach!

My stay at the ocean house hotel at bass rocks exceeded all my expectations. The staff was great and The breakfast each morning was delicious and greatly appreciated. and The view from my room facing the ocean was spectacular and unforgettable.

This was our third visit to the Ocean Inn and will not be our last. The wonderful location and view combined with a friendly a**osphere and staff makes this one of our favorite places to stay. They also provide an excellent continental breakfast.

A bit pricey especially for the off season but the views alone are magnificent and the staff will go above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant stay. The continental breakfast daily is an extra added bonus. Great coffee, danishes, bagels and the stuffed ham and cheese/spinach pie style croissants are delicious!!

It's a family owned hotel with a great view. It has been kept up and didn't have a tired well worn feel like some hotels. our room was comfortable on the small side with no room to put out a luggage rack and the closet had an awkward clothes hanging arrangement. Bathroom small with no way to hang a robe when showering. Buffet breakfast was adequate.

For the type of hotel this was marketed as, it simply did not deliver. Lack of hospitality/service (despite multiple inquiries prior to and during visit). While the service was friendly it lacked competence and basic standards for the lodging industry. Would not recommend.
