Lovely traditional style hotel on the side of the lake with beautiful views.
We had a great room which was more like a suite so we could chill after each days long walks.
The staff were very friendly, relaxed and helpful, and they made the trip special as it was my husband's birthday.
It also seemed like a lot of the locals came to eat there. Charming all round.

We chose a hotel in the town of Gmunden as a base for trips to the towns of Hallstatt and St. Gilgen, the hotel is located on the edge of a lake (a narrow road separates it from the lake), The hotel is a family hotel and the hotel owner walks around among the guests and knows everyone. The room is large and simple, we got room 21 with a gorgeous view of the lake. The towels have seen better days and do not meet the definition of large bath towels. The hotel has a restaurant and the annoying part is that at 08:30 PM the kitchen closes, It is problematic if you go for a trip and arrive at the hotel and want to have dinner. (It's like this in all the restaurants in Gmunden) The breakfast is simple and if you didn't arrive early you find that some of the products run out and they don't always take care to refill unless you specifically ask. The staff (which I think is part of the family, I didn't ask) is very, very nice and helpful. Overall The hotel is rated as a 3 star hotel and as such it met our needs and we will definitely recommend it to those who want to make a star trip in the area

My room was a kind of isolated one, which window side was just infront of building wall. So, you need to make a reservation for lake-view side.

The location is beautiful with a view of Gmunden. The cuisine is varied and of high quality and quantity. The wine list is second to none! The room with a lake view and large terrace was clean and quite large. Despite the recent renovation, it does seem old-fashioned - especially the bathroom with a shower in the bathtub. Hence "only" 4 stars.

We use the hotel as part of a business trip. Some of the rooms have been completely renovated and have a great view of Lake Traunsee. There is also a restaurant in the hotel, so that you no longer have to use the car. Which is a big advantage. The restaurant has a very good selection of local dishes that you can recommend very well. At breakfast we missed the offer of egg dishes such as scrambled eggs with bacon. There were only boiled eggs here. But otherwise the breakfast was good.

Ich war schon paar mal hier, und eigentlich immer zufrieden. So warum nur drei Sterne? Bei meinem letzten Besuch wurde ich leider nicht reingelassen. Mehr als ein drittel der Tische waren leer, aber reserviert. So haben wir den Kellner einfach gefragt, ob wir einen Platz für zwei bekommen können, nur für einen Kaffee und Wasser. Uns wurde nur ein Platz im Innere des Restaurants angeboten, dass wir abgeleht haben (am Sommerabend nicht interessant). Ich verstehe, dass wenn ein Tisch reserviert ist, kann man nix erwarten. Ich kann aber nur schwierig glauben dass alle die (mindestens 10) Tische für gleiche Zeit reserviert waren. Kaffee und Wasser ist max 30-40 min. Offensichtlich ist die Einnahme von ca. 20€ nicht interessant. Ich verstehe auch, dass Gäste wenn sie schon mal sitzen, nich weggeschickt werden können oder auch ungeplant etwas anderes bestellen, aber mit diese Annahme kann man nicht pauschal alle Kunden beurteilen. Meine Frau hat dazu gesagt, dass im Lebensmittel Geschäft auch mal Kunden hin und wieder etwas klauen, man kann aber nich annehmen, dass alle Kunden es tun würden.

The landlord, who was actually always musty, wanted to put us inside, since he was reserved from 6 p.m. and he didn't want to move. With so much inflexibility and cockiness, one wonders whether he is just overwhelmed, incapable or perhaps already oversaturated by the many Corona aids?
